💬 Office warfare: Google rolled out Gemini Enterprise, their Microsoft Copilot. For $21 to $30 a month, it connects with tools like Google Workspace, Salesforce and Microsoft 365, so your team can literally talk to your data. Think: instant answers from emails, docs or CRM info, no tab-hopping required. If you’re drowning in spreadsheets, this is worth a serious look.
Geocaching turns 25, and it’s never been cooler 🎉
The weekend is here, and it’s hard to believe that geocaching recently turned 25 years old. It’s still going strong with over 3.4 million caches hidden around the world.
I used to do geocaching with my son Ian. It’s a lot of fun.
Whether you’re looking for a new way to get your steps in, entertain the kids or spice up your solo weekend routine, this modern-day treasure hunt is the move.
All you need is your phone and one of these top geocaching apps:
- Geocaching (iOS, Android): The OG app with the largest cache database
- Cachly: Great for iPhone users who want more advanced tools
- C:geo: A favorite for Android explorers who like a sleek interface
🗺️ Why it’s awesome
Geocaching is simple: Open the app, turn on your location, and you’ll see caches (aka hidden containers) near you. Tap one, follow the GPS coordinates and start looking.
Most are the size of a film canister, others are full-on treasure troves. Inside, you’ll find a logbook to sign and maybe a little trinket to trade like a key chain, coin or tiny toy.
Some caches are cleverly disguised (fake bolts, birdhouses, magnetic signs), which turns a walk into a puzzle-solving mission.
🤫 Insider secrets
- Bring a pen. Some logbooks are too tiny to come with one.
- Check the difficulty rating. Start with caches rated 1 to 2 stars.
- Trade fair. If you take a trinket, leave something of equal or better value.
- Be stealthy. Muggles (non-cachers) might remove caches if they spot you.
You can also hide your own cache. I used to leave Kim Komando Show webcam covers. Now that I am writing about this, I think I’ll do it again!
Free cloud storage: What you really get and what to do when it runs out
You set your phone to back up photos, turn on file sync, and next thing you know, you get a message: “Storage full.” Wait, what the heck happened?
Let’s clear up your cloud storage confusion.
Share videos with Google Drive: It’s an easy way to send large files to a client or friend. Open your browser, sign in to Google Drive and click + New > File Upload. Choose your video and wait for it to finish uploading. Then open it, hit Share, select Anyone with the link, copy the link and send it off.
Add multiple emails to Outlook: You can connect Gmail, Yahoo or any other account to Outlook. Go to Settings (top right) > Accounts > Your accounts > Add account. Enter your email, tap Continue and sign in. Grant access, then select Open Outlook when prompted, and your new inbox will appear in the left panel.
⚡️ 3-second tech genius: Want a cleaner bookmarks bar in Chrome? Right-click a bookmark, select Edit, delete the Name and hit Save. You’ll see just the icon, and free up extra space.
✍️ Fix caps in Google Docs: If you’re typing fast during a meeting, capitalization is usually the first thing to go. Instead of fixing every word later, highlight the text, go to Format > Text > Capitalization, and choose lowercase, UPPERCASE or Title Case. In seconds, your notes look tidy and professional.
Chrome shortcuts: Pin your favorite sites to Chrome’s home page. Open a new tab and click Customize Chrome in the bottom right. Toggle on Show shortcuts, then select My shortcuts. Click Add shortcut, enter the site name and URL, and hit Done. To delete one, tap the three-dot icon and choose Remove.
📬 Recover deleted Outlook emails: Accidentally trashed an important message? Don’t stress. In Outlook’s left panel, open Deleted Items, select the email, and hit Restore. If it’s missing, click Recover items deleted from this folder at the top. Choose your email, restore it, and it’ll pop back into your Inbox like nothing happened.
🖼️ Download all your Google Photos: You can make a local backup of your pictures on your PC. Open Google Photos and select the first image. Scroll to the bottom, hold Shift, and click the last one to highlight everything. Then hit the three-dot menu in the top right, choose Download, and check your Downloads folder.
🗣️ Let Chrome read to you: Struggling to focus on long articles? Add the “Read Aloud” extension from the Chrome Web Store. After installing, click the Extensions icon (top right) and pin it. Highlight any text and hit the Read Aloud icon to hear it. You can also adjust the voice, pitch and speed in Settings.
📄 Install Google Docs as an app: You can get quicker access to Docs on your PC. In Chrome, open Google Docs, click the three-dot menu in the top right, and scroll to Cast, save and share. Select Install page as app and confirm. It’ll show up on your desktop and open like a stand-alone app.
⚡️ 3-second tech genius: Stop swiping all your open apps closed. Folks like to think that helps battery life, but it’s a myth. In fact, most apps are meant to keep running in the background.
⚡️ 3-second tech genius: Going overseas? Use WhatsApp or Signal for free messaging over Wi-Fi, and skip roaming fees entirely.
Help out remotely: Next time your mom or dad is stuck on a PC, avoid the phone call nightmare. Install Chrome Remote Desktop on both computers, sign in with Google and connect. You can see your parents’ screen, move the mouse, open files and run programs. All free, streamed online.
Organize Kindle books: Your Kindle doesn’t have to be chaos. Create Collections (mini folders) to keep your favorite reads together. In your Library, select the three-dot icon on a book, choose Add to/remove from Collection, hit (+), name it, tap Create and Save. Then repeat with other books to add them.
⚡️ 3-second tech genius: If an app, service or your internet seems down, check Downdetector. Search the name to see current outages along with problems reported in the past few hours. And if there are none, reboot your device.
📖 Make your Kindle feel like a real book: Love this little change. Go to Settings > Screen and brightness > Show covers on lock screen.
⚡️ 3-second tech genius: Old Chrome extensions can slow things down. Click the three-dot icon (top right), go to Extensions > Manage Extensions, pick the ones you don’t need, and hit Remove.
📧 Search Gmail by date: Pull up emails from a specific time frame using the search bar. For example, type: after:2025/08/01 before:2025/10/01 to see emails from Aug. 1 through Sept. 30, 2025.
