The next iPhone? Nope. This one has no screen, no apps, no keyboard

I always want you to be tech ahead. That’s why I want you to think about what if your next device didn’t have a screen? Or apps? Or a keyboard?

That’s exactly why Sam Altman (OpenAI’s CEO) and Jony Ive (the former Apple design genius behind the iPhone) are working on a new kind of AI gadget that could completely change the way we interact with technology.

Your AI sidekick

This new device, still under wraps and code-named “IO,” isn’t a phone replacement. It’s something completely new. Altman says he believes they’ll sell 100 million of them. And I think he’s right.

It won’t show you TikToks or open Instagram. Instead, it listens, learns and helps. Think of it like an AI brain in your pocket. You talk to it, and it talks back, giving you useful answers, reminders, ideas, even directions, all without pulling out a screen or typing a single word.

It learns from you. That’s right: you, in your unfiltered glory, yelling, “Alexa, lower volume!” while trying to microwave coffee for the third time.

‘Where’s my kid’s soccer game?’

Imagine saying that out loud and your AI assistant tells you the location, pulls up the route and reminds you to pick up snacks on the way, all while you’re brushing your teeth or grabbing your keys. That’s the promise of what’s coming: zero friction tech that helps without overwhelming.

I love my devices, but I don’t want to be ruled by them. This could be a new kind of relationship with tech, more human, less addictive.

A full-circle moment

It’s poetic, really. Jony Ive helped design the very screen-based world we now live in: the iPhone, iPad, iMac. Now he’s helping to build the thing that might free us from those screens. That’s huge.

Will this device change everything overnight? Probably not. Will it make you question why you ever needed five apps to order a sandwich? Yes.

Make a movie in a minute

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, AI is changing everything. And now it’s coming for video. This is the future, and it’s so fun to play around with these new tools.

Forget editing software, green screens or even a camera. Now your keyboard is the director, the producer and creative partner. All you need to do is type what you want to see, and AI will turn it into a slick, high-def video.

Open/download audio

Klarna’s customer service team got replaced by one chatbot. Also, MrBeast spent $4 million on one YouTube video. If it flops, he says he’ll cry. Plus: Your receipts are covered in poison, and a ChatGPT story that goes way too far.

📺 TV arms race: Get ready for more ads! Amazon Ads and Roku just inked an ad deal that lets brands target 80% of U.S. connected-TV homes. Starting late this year, Amazon will place ads across Prime Video, the Roku Channel and more, with smarter targeting and fewer repeats. In trials, it reached 40% more viewers with the same budget.

$4 million

What MrBeast just dropped on a single YouTube video. That’s a full Hollywood film budget, minus the red carpet and plus way more slime. He spent over a year on it, with 171 days of filming and 11,000 hours of footage. The video is scheduled to drop on Saturday.

🕹️ Know what they’re playing: Before your kid buys a new video game, go to ESRB.org and type the title into the search bar. You’ll see the official rating (like E for Everyone or M for Mature), plus a breakdown of what’s in it. Things like violence, language and sexual content are all listed.

Hold the phone

📞 Don’t hang up. Here are cool tools to keep your phone in place.

📱 Pop this on: PopSockets’ new magnetic Kick-Out Grip ($40) can finally stand upright. You take video calls or scroll on social media, all hands-free. Plus, it comes with an adapter for Android folks. So wonderful!

Before your Google Meet: Blur out that pile of laundry before hopping on. When the video preview loads, click the three dots at the bottom. Then, go to Apply visual effects > Blur and personal backgrounds > and choose Blur your background. Once you’re set, hit Join now.

Lost and found: Accidentally deleted a photo or video on your Mac? Don’t panic. Open your Photos app and click Recently Deleted in the sidebar. Find your lost file and hit Recover. You have 30 days to get it back. Btw, if you never looked there, do it now.

▶️ Test for success: Compare up to three thumbnails in YouTube Studio to see which gets the most engagement. Pick a video, click Test & compare under Thumbnail and hit Done. The test starts when your video is public. Wait up to two weeks to see the result: Winner (your best thumbnail), Preferred (good but just by a little) or None (no difference).

Google Home update: Some nine new features are here. You can now watch Nest Cam footage picture-in-picture on Google TV, and Gemini has more smart home controls. Automations take fewer steps, and you can skip through video by double-tapping. FYI: Most features are in public preview. Join here.

Record your screen: OBS Studio is a free app that works on Windows and Mac. It’s easy to use: Just go to Add Source > Display Capture, choose Automatic as your Capture Method and hit OK. Now click Start Recording, and Stop Recording when you’re done. Pro tip: Use this guide for the best video settings.

📚 Books to bucks: Got shelves of old novels, DVDs or video games? Free apps like BookBuddy (iOS) and Libib (Android) make it easy to sell them. Scan the barcode, and the app stores it in a catalog. From there, create a listing on eBay, Facebook Marketplace or wherever you flip.

400 million

That’s how many subscribers MrBeast just hit on YouTube. The data supports it, he’s the undisputed king of the algorithm. He’s got more subscribers than the U.S. has citizens. At this rate, he could drop a video called “I Breathed Air,” and it’d hit 50 million in an hour.

📱 Reels made easy: Meet Edits (Android, iOS), Meta’s new video editing app for short-form content. It’s Instagram Reels’ answer to TikTok’s CapCut. And it’s packed with tools like green screen effects, auto-captions, AI animations and more. Best part? It’s totally free. Score.

🎤 Listen up: Adobe has a free tool to test if your mic is set correctly for a podcast or video meeting. Try it here. You’ll get pointers on where to sit relative to your mic and whether there’s too much going on in the background. Nice!

💬 Add and view Instagram captions: Want auto-captions on your story? Tap the (+) icon, upload your video, then tap the Stickers icon and select Captions. To see captions on other people’s stories and reels, go to your Profile > Menu > Settings and activity > Accessibility > Captions, then toggle on Always show closed captions.
