Do videos constantly buffer or web pages refuse to load? Here’s why it happens — and how to fix it.
3 reasons your internet is slow
GoFraudMe: Scammers’ latest ploy is fake fundraisers exploiting a real tragedy. A woman’s husband was killed with a hatchet on vacation, and bogus GoFundMes popped up using his story. GoFundMe pulled the pages, but it’s a brutal reminder: Always verify before donating.

That’s how long AOL’s dial-up has been screeching. Come Sept. 30, 2025, the iconic modem handshake will join Blockbuster late fees in the nostalgia graveyard. Broadband won years ago, this is just a very late funeral. If you’ve never heard it, imagine R2-D2 having a panic attack through a kazoo. Hey, in the mood to go back in time? Check out these home pages from way back to log on to memory lane.
📄 Delete PDF pages for free: Using the basic version of Acrobat? You can’t remove pages directly, but there’s a loophole. Go to Menu > Print, set the Printer to Microsoft Print to PDF (Windows) or Save as PDF (Mac). Under Pages to Print, choose the range you want (like 5–12), then hit Print and save your new file.
📚 Reading help on Kindle: Struggling with long pages? Kindle has a special font that makes words easier to follow. Open any book, tap near the top and select the Aa icon. Under Font > Font Family, choose OpenDyslexic. FYI: You can also adjust Boldness and Size here to suit your eyes. Cool, right?
Send Chrome pages to your phone: On your computer, open the website you want and click the three-dot menu (top right). Go to Cast, save and share > Create QR Code. A QR code will pop up. On your phone, open the Camera app (or Scan QR code), and the link opens in your mobile browser. Nice.
✍️ Scan handwritten pages on iPhone: In the Notes app, tap the Paperclip icon above the keyboard and choose Scan Text to turn handwriting into editable typed content. Or pick Scan Documents to save it as a PDF that keeps the handwritten look but is searchable, too (if it’s neat enough).
📝 Free note-taking app: Joplin is like an organized notebook that never runs out of pages. You can write notes, make checklists and even attach multimedia to your work. Coolest part? It works offline and syncs between your phone and computer, so you can take it wherever you go.
🛑 Block pop-ups in Chrome: Sick of annoying pop-ups or pages redirecting you without asking? Go to Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Pop-ups and redirects and choose Don’t allow sites to send pop-ups or use redirects. It’s not an ad blocker, but it helps keep sketchy sites in check.
Move around faster on Kindle: Need to jump back a few pages? Open your book, then swipe up from the bottom. Tap the Grid icon to see previews of multiple pages. Use the arrows on the sides to flip through your book.
⚡️ 3-second tech genius: In Google Docs, you can open web pages with fewer mouse clicks. On Windows, hover your cursor over a link and press Alt + Enter. On Mac, it’s Option + Enter.
🍏 Save a web page as a PDF: On iPad, let’s say you’re in Safari on a Wikipedia article. Tap the Share icon in the top right and select Print. Choose the Range (pages you want), then hit the Share icon again. Select Save to Files, choose On My iPad or iCloud Drive, and press Save.
📁 Mac save shortcut: Working in Pages and don’t want to dig through folders to save your file? After hitting Command + S, a save window pops up. If you already have a Finder window open where you want to save it, just grab the folder icon in its title bar and drag it into the Save window.
Stop Kindle fumbles: Disable your touchscreen so taps don’t register, but swipes to turn pages still work. Open a book, tap More options (three-dot icon) > Disable Touchscreen and hit OK. Want it back on? Just press the Power button to sleep and wake your Kindle.
⚡️ 3-second tech genius: Go to www.archive.ph to view expired or paywalled web pages. Not everything is there, of course, but it’s worth the shot.
