⌨️ Shortcut bonanza because I know you love ‘em: On Windows, hit Windows key + L to lock your screen, Windows key + E to open File Explorer and Windows key + M to minimize all apps. The Mac equivalents: Cmd + Control + Q to lock your screen, Cmd + spacebar to open Spotlight Search and Cmd + Option + M to minimize your windows.
🧠 Too many tabs, huh: Microsoft quietly admitted OneDrive sync could be tanking Windows 11 performance. It’s enabled by default, which is cute until File Explorer takes three years to open. If you’ve got Windows, right-click that cloud icon and pause syncing to see if your PC stops wheezing. If you’ve got Apple, keep laughing until that monthly iCloud bill comes in.
Remove ads in File Explorer: Windows 11 sometimes slips in ads for OneDrive and other Microsoft services. To turn them off, open This PC, click the three-dot menu at the top, and select Options. In the new window, go to the View tab > Advanced settings, untick Show sync provider notifications, then hit Apply and OK.
🪟 AI actions in File Explorer: Microsoft is testing Windows 11 tools that let you edit images and docs without even opening them. Right-click a JPEG and you can remove or blur backgrounds or run a Bing reverse search. Soon? One-click document summaries. If you’re a Windows Insider, you can try it out now. I’ll let you know when it drops for the rest of us.
🗂️ Show file extensions in Windows: By default, Windows hides the suffixes at the end of file names (like .jpeg, .mp4 or .exe). You’ll want these visible, so you don’t accidentally open a malicious file that looks like a photo but is actually an executable. To turn them on, open File Explorer > View > Show > File name extensions.
