Your ride’s about to get way too smart. Qualcomm’s new AI chips built for cars will know who you are, predict your routes, and make decisions without asking. We’ve got more: a huge lithium find in Arkansas, the latest Call of Duty, and some bizarre Waymo fails. 🏃🏼♂️ Fake it ’til you jog it: There’s now an app called Fake My Run that lets you draw made-up jogging routes and upload them to Strava like you’re a cardio god. Inspired by “Strava mules” (yes, people pay others to run for them), the app’s developer says it’s a comment on running’s toxic clout-chasing culture. I was running down the street where the houses were numbered, 64k, 128k, 256k, 512k and 1MB. What a trip down memory lane!
🚐 Hitting the road? Try Sēkr, a travel planner made for road trippers seeking a great van life destination. You’ll find scenic routes and reviews for campsites off the beaten path. Plus, there are even van life events to meet fellow travelers.
🥾 Going hiking? Your map app might send you off a cliff. UK mountain rescue teams were called out last year. Blame bad directions and folks blindly following routes. So, use a proper map, learn a few survival basics and maybe pack a flare just in case. “Recalculating route” shouldn’t mean straight into the abyss.
Want to improve Apple Maps? A new app called Maps Surveyor lets you take pictures of street signs and roadside details on assigned routes. But there’s a catch: You’ll need to have the Premise app installed first. That’s a platform that rewards people for completing small tasks. So yes, you might get paid!
