It’s a bug’s life

🦟 Patio season is here. I’ve got secret weapons to fight back.

  • Set up a fly trap ($10) outside to lure those pests away.
  • Plug in an electric bug zapper ($46), so they buzz straight into the light.
  • Take matters into your own hands with an electric fly swatter (11% off).
  • This magnetic screen door ($29) lets in the breeze but not insects.
  • An ultrasonic repeller (17% off) is like an invisible shield for your home.
  • Use Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint Soap ($9.99 for a two-pack). Bugs hate it and won’t come near you!
  • These mosquito repellent bracelets (23% off) help keep bugs off your skin. No sprays or mess needed.

WOW! Amazon is clearing out these older MacBook Airs. You can snag one for up to 33% off its original price.

Nintendo Switch 2 update: Preorders are set for April 24, and the price is holding at $449.99. Accessories are getting more expensive. The Joy-Con is $94.99, the Pro Controller is $84.99, and the Switch 2 Camera is $54.99. Launch day’s locked for June 5. By the time I finish buying accessories, Nintendo is legally allowed to claim me as a dependent.

$3.4 million

Price tag of the world’s most accurate clock. The Aether clock OC 020 is as big as two refrigerators and weighs over 440 pounds. Let it tick for 10 billion years, and it would only be off by a second. That’s better than atomic clocks and could help predict earthquakes. No word if it has a snooze button.

⚡️ 3-second tech genius: In Gmail, type “unsubscribe” in the search bar. Boom, every promo list you forgot you signed up for, ready to nuke. This tip alone is worth the price of this newsletter.

Egg-cellent finds

🐣 Just one week until Easter! Let’s hop into it.

  • Your kids will turn your sidewalk into art with a $9.99 12-pack chalk set. For some reason, the 9-pack is the same price.
  • Grab a dino egg kit (20% off) for a prehistoric twist to your egg hunt.
  • These wooden stacking blocks (10% off) make great basket stuffers.
  • Get your hands on this cute LEGO Easter (9% off) rabbits building set.
  • Bunny-shaped toaster tongs (41% off) are perfect for your Easter morning.

🍫 Sweeten the deal: Chocolate lovers, treat yourself to a yummy assortment of candies from Hershey (10% off) or Dove ($13).

👂🏼 AirPods aren’t the only option: Check out Raycon. Their earbuds sound great, get a ton of battery life and are a fraction of the price.

🇺🇲 Stars, stripes and sticker shock: Want a “Made in the USA” iPhone? Be ready to shell out as much as $3,500. Labor costs alone could bump the price up 25%. Apple CEO Tim Cook hasn’t ruled out the idea of making phones here in the States, but it would take years to pull off. Buy once, cry at least twice.

Talk without price shock: Need a smartphone without breaking the bank? Motorola’s new Moto G Stylus 2025 might be what you need. For $399, you get a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 50MP main camera and fast charging. There’s a headphone jack if you miss that. Budget phone, bougie features. Grab it starting April 17.

🎧 Big sound, tiny price: Whether you’re tuning into your favorite podcast or taking calls on the go, Raycon’s Everyday Earbuds deliver crisp, powerful audio, without the high price tag. They fit like a dream and last all day. I swear by them. Get up to 20% off sitewide now. Your ears (and wallet) will thank you.

Verizon’s new price lock policy: With all the economic chaos going on, Verizon’s offering a three-year price guarantee on certain plans. Sounds great, right? Not so fast. This “deal” only covers the base charge. Fees aren’t included, so your bill can still go up. Oh, and they can also cut your monthly autopay discount in half. Cute, Verizon. Real cute.

⛽ Save at the pump: Find the cheapest gas on the Waze app (Apple, Android). Just search “gas near me,” tap the gear icon on the right > Sort stations by > Price. Pro tip: Stations close to highways are always pricier.

Got this question from Sharon in Chicago: “How much can I make selling books on Amazon?” Be careful how you price your books. For e-books priced between $2.99 and $9.99, you’ll get 70% in royalties. Anything above or below that range drops your royalties to 35%. For paperbacks, you’ll get 60% of the list price (minus printing costs, which depend on page count, size and color). What a novel way to make a living!

Student in the family? A student Amazon Prime account is a heck of a lot cheaper than the regular price. Students get six months free, and then it’s half off a year ($69).

$70

Total price of a $20 order on DoorDash. It’s not just delivery fees and tips. DoorDash now lets you split your bill into four payments with Klarna. Miss a payment? That’s a $7 late fee and maybe overdraft charges from your bank. The other day, I ordered DoorDash and got this message, “Jesus is on his way.” I thought, “He sure is!”

✈️ Flying this year? You can save up to 15% when you book on a Sunday. The cheapest day of the week to travel is Wednesday. Now, that alone is worth the price of this newsletter!

About $100

The expected price tag of Grand Theft Auto 6. This leaked on a Swiss store’s website but got quickly deleted. Hardly a steal? It’s actually about the same as the $50 original GTA from 1997 in today’s dollars. The game should be out later this year.

$5,000

Price of Lamborghini’s baby stroller. The Reef AL Arancio is like a supercar for infants. It has car-like brake pedals, Italian leather and Lamborghini’s iconic logo. They teamed up with Silver Cross to create this “super stroller.” Only 500 were made, so these bougie babies will stand out.

❄️ This blows me away: LG’s upcoming Artcool AI Air can detect a room’s layout and direct cool air to the people it senses. It knows when a window is open and will automatically switch to energy-saving mode. Plus, it’s got a sleek black mirror finish. Price and ETA? Both TBA.

AirPods aren’t the only option: Check out Raycon. Their earbuds sound great, get a ton of battery life and are a fraction of the price.

📬 Ransomware by snail mail? It’s happening. Cybercriminals are now sending ransom demands through postal mail. The letters warn folks that their networks have been compromised and sensitive info stolen. The price to keep it private? $250,000 to $350,000 in bitcoin, due in 10 days. And because they’re oh-so-considerate, they include a QR code so you can send the crypto right to their wallet.
