Why cutting the cable was all BS

What started as a way to dodge high cable bills has turned into a tangled mess of streaming subscriptions, each with its own costs.

🛻 Screen stealers: Drive a new Dodge Ram truck? Thieves are snatching up dashboard screens. A design flaw makes the screen easy to detach. Always lock your doors and get a solid anti-theft alarm system.

I’m sexy and I mow it: The Segway Navimow i105N is a wireless robot lawn mower that can zip around your yard and dodge obstacles (and dog poop). It’s pretty quiet at just 58 decibels. Think a humming refrigerator. The downside: It costs $999.

🏁 $28,000 down the drain: A guy from Ohio found a used Dodge Ram on Facebook Marketplace. He’s smart, so he asked for the VIN, ran three checks and called the original dealership. It all checked out. A couple weeks later, six cops showed up. The scam is called cloning. A thief swaps the VIN on a stolen vehicle with a clean one, sells it and moves on. Poor guy is on the hook for the loan.

🚗 Here’s the kind of math I like: For car dealerships, a 60-day supply of vehicles is healthy. All across the country, some are hitting 75 days’ worth of supply, and that means they’re much more likely to negotiate with you. Nissan, Dodge, Ram and Jeep are the most oversupplied brands right now (paywall link). Pass this along to someone looking for a new car!
