NASA’s Curiosity rover has been carrying around a penny on Mars for 13 years, which makes it no better than my car’s glove compartment.

The 1909 Lincoln penny is attached to the rover as a size reference for close-up rock photos. Yep, “object for scale” Facebook marketplace shenanigans. Just 140 million miles from the nearest gas station.
Makes me think that if aliens ever find NASA’s lucky penny, they’re going to assume Abraham Lincoln colonized Mars first. Hang in there, Abe.
