GENERAL

Is Kim Komando her real name?

Says Kim: "YES! Komando really is my last name, and I carry my birth certificate to prove it! My grandparents came to America from the Ukraine, and their name was shortened at Ellis Island. It dates to a late 16th century group of marauding Cossack warriors - or something like that!"

Where can I listen to Kim on the radio?

Kim is on nearly 400 stations across the country. Use the Station Finder to find out how you can listen to Kim in your area. If Kim's show isn't broadcast in your city, join the Komando Community to listen and watch whenever you want!

Can I send an email to Kim? Will she read it?

The answer to both questions is "yes." However, due to the number of messages she receives, a personal reply to every message just isn't possible. Click here to email Kim.

How can I send Kim a press release?

If you are a PR representative, use this form to submit releases.

Does your site use cookies?

Yes. Cookies let us remember your preferences between visits, which means you can get right to reading your favorite articles. However, we don't use tracking or third-party cookies. Read the Privacy Policy for further details.

Are Web bugs used on Kim’s site?

No. Web bugs are tiny images embedded in Web pages that track a user’s online activities. This site uses small, static images as design elements only. Some security programs may misidentify such images as Web bugs.

What are all those Google ads? Does Kim endorse them?

No. Kim does not endorse Google’s advertisers. Kim only endorses products she trusts. We run Google ads to support the large number of tips, buying guides and news reports we generate for our readers.

Some of the ads seem misleading. Can’t they be screened?

Google screens ads appearing in its network, although according to Google some ads may run before Google's AdWords staff has had the opportunity to screen them. Additionally, we kick advertisers off our site when we notice an ad we don’t like, or when we receive a complaint from our visitors. Should you have a complaint, please report it here. Remember to include the full name of the advertiser and its Web address (URL), if possible. We will remove ads with inappropriate or misleading content. You can also complain to Google on this complaint form.

EMAIL NEWSLETTERS

Method 1: Go here and enter the email address that receives the newsletters. All newsletters you are subscribed to will be checked. Uncheck any you no longer wish to receive and leave the ones you would like to continue receiving checked then click Update.

Method 2: Open a recent email newsletter you received from Komando.com. At the bottom, click the link that says, "Manage your email newsletters." Check the newsletters you wish to receive and click the Update button.

How do I change the email address?

You can manage subscriptions for different email addresses here. If you'd like to stop receiving them at one address and start receiving them at another, simply subscribe the new address to the lists you like and unsubscribe the old address for all lists.

What do you do with my email address?

Kim’s newsletters come with her 100 percent spam-free guarantee. Your email address will never be sold.

Kim’s newsletters are also 100 percent Can-Spam compliant. You may opt-out at any time, either by clicking here or by sending an unsubscribe request via postal mail to the address included on every email.

I signed up for your newsletters but have not received them.

When you sign up for my newsletters, you are automatically sent a welcome email.. Click on any of the links inside that email to manage your subscription.

If you've already done that, check your spam or junk mailboxes to make sure they aren't getting routed there. If you use Gmail, click here for more directions.

If at any point you are still not receiving Kim's newsletter emails, please make sure that the Kim Komando newsletter email addresses are on your approved email list or in your email address book. Some email programs and many spam filters allow you to create an approved list of friendly addresses.

You can simply add "lyris.komando.com" and they should all make it through.

Here are the specific email account names and addresses used to send the newsletters to you.

How do I view newsletters in a larger font?

In the upper right corner of the Newsletter, click the “View this email as a webpage” link. An HTML version of the newsletter will open in your default Web browser.

In most browsers you can press CTRL (CMD on a Mac) and the plus key ("+") to increase the font size. CTRL/CMD and the minus key ("-") decreases the font size and CTRL + 0 (zero) returns it to normal.

You can also hold down the CTRL key and use the scroll wheel on your mouse to increase or decrease the font size.

KOMANDO AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

How do you keep track of my referrals?

If you click on an Ambassador link in one of Kim's newsletters, or request that we send your link to you here, you get a unique, dedicated link to a page that's tied to the email address with which you subscribed. So whenever you invite a friend to join from that page, our system is able to determine who sent the invite. That's how it can tell which subscriber to credit with the referral when the invitee signs up.

I sent someone an invite. How do I know if he or she subscribed?

Start at the unique Ambassador Program page link you get at the bottom of Kim's newsletters (or you can request it here). Below the name and email fields, there's a button labeled "VIEW MY REFERRALS," which links to a running tally of all the email addresses you've sent invites to and when the invite was sent. If the recipient has signed up for any of Kim's newsletters, you'll see a timestamp under the column labeled "Enroll Date." If that column is blank, that recipient has not yet signed up.

I referred someone and he or she never got the email.

No problem! Since you invited him or her, you will get the referral credit no matter how or when this person signs up. You can let your the recipient know to head over to the newsletters subscription page on Komando.com and sign up, and you will get the Ambassador Program credit.

(You can only refer a friend one time through this system, and no email address can be referred by more than one subscriber, so it's always the first friend to refer her who gets the credit.)

My friend said she subscribed but it’s not showing in my dashboard.

First, check to make sure you spelled your friend's email address exactly right when inviting her … email addresses don't do "close enough"! If you did, it's possible she'd already been referred by someone else - only the first person to invite her by that email address will actually get the credit for referring her.

I submitted my email address to get my link and it’s not in my email.

First, check your "spam" or "junk" folder - if it's there, make sure to whitelist [FROM ADDRESS] so it doesn't go there next time.

If not, no worries - you'll find your dedicated link at the bottom of every Komando newsletter you receive, or you can you can request it here. (To prevent possible abuse, the system only allows one such request per day.)

What if I lose my dedicated link: How do I get back to my page?

You'll find your dedicated link at the bottom of every Komando newsletter you receive, or you can you can request it here. (To prevent possible abuse, the system only allows one such request per day.)

I am frustrated with the Apple Podcast app. Every time Apple updates my iPhone or iTunes, things go wrong. I keep seeing “Episode Unavailable. This episode is temporarily unavailable from The Kim Komando Show.” How can I get this resolved?

Unfortunately, you can't use Apple's Podcast app to download The Kim Komando Show podcast. Even though Apple says the app works with password-protected podcasts, it doesn't. My amazing technical team has tried to get it working several times without success, and it's a known problem that plenty of other sites have.

Until Apple comes through with a fix, you have a few options.

  1. Install another podcast app, like Downcast ($2.99). This works for many of my listeners.
  2. Download the podcasts to your computer and transfer them to your iPhone using iTunes.
  3. Stream the podcasts right from the website to your phone. You'll need a solid Internet connection, of course.

If you want to go for option 2 or 3, here are the instructions:

When logged in to Komando Community, click on the "Listen" tab.

Note: When iTunes or another podcast app asks you to log in to download the podcasts, please make sure you use your current Komando Community email address and password. If the podcasts don't download automatically in iTunes, click "Refresh” icon, shaped like a circular arrow, in the upper left area of the screen. It's located under the “Controls” menu of the iTunes screen.
