Ever get the feeling someone’s following you around the grocery store? At Ralphs in Los Angeles, that someone might be a 6-foot robot named Tally.

This beeping, blinking hall monitor on wheels cruises the aisles, scanning shelves for missing products, misplaced items and pricing problems. Kroger has deployed hundreds. The company says Tally frees employees for more important tasks. Unions worry it’s freeing them from employment.
