Cities finally found a robot job nobody’s mad about: staring at cracked sidewalks all day.

Daxbot

Dax is a 35-inch-tall sidewalk inspector rolling around Bangor, Hoboken, Hollister, Tyler and Hilton Head, measuring slopes, widths and pavement hazards so planners know what needs fixing. Bangor’s fleet alone is tackling about 150 miles of pedestrian infrastructure. 

Kids love the little guy, and some cities encourage selfies. Turns out the secret to public acceptance of robots was making them short, cute and obsessed with potholes.
