Search without Google tracking you

Search without Google tracking you

Google is the king of search; we use it hundreds of time a day here at Komando.com. But while it's good at finding what you're after, it's not the most privacy-friendly search site out there.

It stores and analyzes what you do so it can show you interest-based ads and adjust your results to match what it thinks you want. Here's how to take control of Google's interest-based ads. Still, if that worries you, you can take your privacy into your own hands with an alternative search site.

DuckDuckGo is a solid Google replacement, and it doesn’t track or target your IP address or search history. So, you don’t have to worry about targeted ads or being trapped in a search filter bubble, which actually means you get more results.

You can also make DuckDuckGo an extension of your browser and activate more privacy settings to keep your search history as protected as possible. You can customize its interface, with search shortcuts and an Instant Answers feature that's just as good, if not better than, Google’s Knowledge Graph.

DuckDuckGo has many of Google's features, like a calculator and unit converter. Just type "2 + 2" or "800 grams in pounds" into the search bar to get an immediate answer. DuckDuckGo adds images, recipes and places to its search results to help you find exactly what you're looking for.
