What does “natural” even mean on food products?

The word “natural” on the food you buy at the grocery store is a bit ambiguous. While consumers tend to think it means that food products are free of excessive chemicals and processed additives, the term doesn’t really have as strict of a definition as you might think. “Natural” foods often have lots of added chemicals, and they aren’t always good for you.
