On April 17, 2018, a Southwest flight from New York to Dallas had an emergency landing in Philadelphia due to an engine explosion. The pilot was able to safely land and save most passengers. The cause of the explosion is still unknown, but it could have been due to metal fatigue on the engine’s fan blades.
