This ‘thank you for your service’ was very personal

While you may not think your words carry that much of an impact, even the simplest of messages can be important. For one man, the simple note from a sixth-grade girl helped him get through the Vietnam War. John Metzler received a letter on the battlefield on Christmas Day in 1970. What the little girl had written would change his life, and he always wondered what had happened to her.
