We all know the story of Benjamin Franklin flying a kite during a lightning storm. He flew the kite with a key attached to it, it was struck by lightning, and — eureka — he discovered electricity. While that is an amazing story, it didn’t quite happen that way. The true story and what he discovered was even more amazing and changed the scientific community forever.
