History behind the Presidential Pardon of a Thanksgiving turkey

Leading up to Thanksgiving Day, there is an annual tradition that dates back about 70 years ago. Harry Truman was the first president to hold an official Turkey reception ceremony, but the idea of pardoning a turkey started way before then, in Abraham Lincoln’s days.
