Before you start, be sure the camera is fully charged. It is best to disconnect any other storage devices such as USB sticks, cameras, or external drives before starting this process.
Download the firmware file named FW96220A to your computer by clicking here.
Connect the Dash Cam with the microUSB cable to your computer.
Turn the Dash Cam on (it may automatically turn on when plugged in).
A screen will appear on the camera that allows you to enable Mass Storage mode. Press the OK button (to the right of the screen) on the camera to enable Mass Storage mode.
Browse to "My Computer" or "This PC" on your computer and look for the drive labeled "E".*
Right-click on the "E"* drive and select the option for Format as shown below.
*NOTE: If you have additional drives or devices plugged into your computer, please ensure you select the correct drive option. If you have multiple internal drives, the camera may have a drive letter other than "E". It is best to disconnect any other storage devices such as USB sticks, cameras, or external drives before starting this process.
Once the format menu appears, check that the options appear as below and click "Start".
Press "OK" to confirm.
Now, navigate to the folder where you downloaded the firmware file (usually the "Downloads" folder).
Right-click on the FW96220A.bin file and select "Copy".
Navigate to the Dash Cam drive "E" and right click in the empty space and click paste.
Once the program is copied over to the "E" drive, you can unplug the Dash Cam from the computer. It will automatically shut off.
Turn the camera back on by pressing the power button a few seconds and then releasing. NOTE: The blue LED on the lower right corner will blink rapidly indicating the update is being installed. Once the update is complete, the Dash Cam will finish powering on like normal.
Now format the Dash Cam's memory using the camera. NOTE: If the camera is recording, stop the recording first by pressing OK.
Press the MENU button (on the left of the screen) two times to get to the setup menu.
Use the arrow keys (on the left of the screen) to navigate down to the Format option.
Press OK, select "SD card" and press "OK" once again.
You will be asked if you want to continue. Select the "OK" option on the screen and press the "OK" button to proceed.
