You’ve probably heard of the social media site Nextdoor. It was designed for people who live in the same neighborhoods to stay in tune with what’s happening in their areas and to bring neighbors together.
Now, the site has launched a couple of tools that will help people assist their neighbors during the coronavirus pandemic. The first can be found in its Nextdoor Groups section.
Nextdoor Groups
Nextdoor Groups will continue helping neighbors stay engaged, even while social distancing. Members can see prompts on Nextdoor, encouraging them to turn active conversation threads into groups.

This makes it easier than ever to bring local communities together, safely, with a click of a button. Popular groups on the site right now are those organizing volunteers.
Help Map
Help Map is a new feature that lets you get involved and really make a difference in your community. It’s an interactive map of your neighborhood where you can mark yourself as someone willing to volunteer to assist neighbors who need help.
Help Map creates a screenshot of your neighborhood and its resources, and neighbors across the country are stepping up to offer support. Members can add themselves to the map, detailing the ways they can help.
For example, you can offer to pick up and deliver groceries for an elderly neighbor or check in on them with a phone call every now and then to make sure they’re OK.

As more and more people practice social distancing and stay home alone, tools like these can be a great resource to help each other. With people helping people, we can all make it through this pandemic together.
