Then there’s the dilemma of what to do with the books when class is over. Sure, you could attempt to sell them, but at the end of the day, they just get tossed on your floor somewhere in a room and left to collect dust.
Thankfully times are changing just in time for back to school. Digital books today are available on many types of devices, such as tablets, your computer and even your phone. Keep reading for a great money-saving tip for your kids and grandkids heading off to college.
What is Pearson+?
The newest thing we recommend and something we wish was around back in our college days is the Pearson+ app, which is something like a Netflix of college textbooks.

Pearson+ is a new subscription service for digital textbooks. The app is available in both mobile and desktop forms. It will also be available on U.S. college campuses this fall and is expected to roll out globally in the future.
You can get the app for free on iOS and Android devices, but you’ll need to pay for a subscription to access the eText books. Don’t worry. It’s much more affordable than buying hard copies of each textbook.
There are two tiers of subscriptions. Enrolled students can pay $9.99 per month to access one eText book at a time or $14.99 per month for access to the company’s full library, which consists of over 1,500 eText books. The app provides various other study aids as well, such as flashcards, annotations and customizable fonts.
With a subscription, you can access your eText books online. You must subscribe for a four-month term for each tier, which is $59.96 for the full library or $39.96 for the single eText.
How does the subscription work?
If you decide to go ahead and sign-up for a four-month commitment, you will be charged the payment method each month until your term has ended. After that, your subscription will be automatically renewed and will charge you on a month-to-month basis unless you turn off auto-renewal in the My Account section.

Pearson+ can save you a bundle in the end. However, if this isn’t something that you would find appealing, there are always book rentals at your college and throughout the internet.
But, who wants to carry all of those books when you can have them safely stored on your computer or mobile device at your fingertips? You be the judge of what’s best for you.
