Best streaming services you can get for $25 or less per month
Who couldn’t use a few extra bucks from time-to-time? Whether you’re planning a big vacation, looking to buy a new home, or simply on a budget, saving money is a good idea.
A smart way to do that is to find ways to lower your monthly bills. One bill in particular comes to mind when thinking about spending less. Of course I’m talking about the cable bill.
Cable and satellite companies have been raising prices for years. It’s gotten to the point where it can cost up to a couple hundred dollars per month just to watch television.
That’s why “cutting the cable cord” has become such a popular trend. Millions of Americans have already switched from cable to online streaming services. When done right, you can save hundreds of dollars each year.
Unfortunately, there could be a looming problem for cord cutters. Streaming services have been raising their rates lately, which is cutting into the savings. If this trend continues, it could kill all of the momentum that cord cutting has picked up recently.
Don’t fret, I have good news. There are still quality streaming services out there that you can get at a bargain price.
Let’s take a look at the three most affordable streaming services for $25 or less.
Sling TV
Sling TV is one of the most popular streaming services around. Unfortunately, it is one of the companies that recently raised its monthly rates. The good news is you can still get one of its base packages, either Sling Orange or Sling Blue, for just $25 per month.
Sling TV is a live TV streaming service that lets you personalize your channel lineup while saving money. Start with picking the best service option for you, then you can pick Extras in your favorite genres including sports, comedy, kids, news, movies, lifestyle and more. You can change your service online anytime.
There are more than 100 channels available to stream instantly on all of your favorite devices. You’re even able to watch your favorite live sports like the NBA and college basketball, hit TV shows like “The Walking Dead,” “Atlanta,” “SportsCenter,” plus over 10,000 hours of on-demand TV shows and movies.
Stream anytime, anyplace on TVs, tablets, smartphones, computers, gaming consoles and other gadgets. No more paying for useless channels, no long-term contracts, and no hidden fees.
If you are a big ESPN fan you should go with Sling Orange. It comes with ESPN, ESPN 2, and ESPN 3 along with a number of other popular cable channels.
Sling Blue does have channels that sports fans will love, but none of the ESPN channels. It includes the NFL Network, FoxSports 1 and 2, and NBC Sports in select markets. Blue also comes with popular cable channels like AMC, Comedy Central, Food Network and more.
If there are certain channels on Sling Orange and others on Sling Blue that you just can’t live without, you can package the two together. This will cost more than the $25 deals that we’re highlighting here but the package is just $40 per month, so it might be worth consideration.

AT&T WatchTV
If you’ve been paying attention to the news you know that AT&T recently merged with Time Warner. One of the first positive results of the merger for customers is a new low-cost streaming service. AT&T is now offering a service called WatchTV.
You can stream through the WatchTV app or on select browsers at no extra cost with AT&T’s two latest unlimited wireless plans. For everyone else, you can purchase WatchTV for $15 per month.
The new streaming service features over 30 live channels. In addition to live programming, WatchTV has more than 15,000 TV shows and movies on demand.
Live channels include A&E, AMC, CNN, Food Network, TBS, TNT and more. More channels including BET, Comedy Central, VH1 and more will be added soon.
The full channel lineup is listed in the image above. For $15 a month, it’s worth checking out. If you’re already an AT&T mobile subscriber, ask the company about its unlimited plans and you might be able to get this streaming service for free as an added bonus to your plan.
Philo
Philo is a streaming service with more than 40 available channels. You can watch your favorite shows live, or save as many as you like and watch them in HD on as many as three gadgets.
Philo was originally available to only college students. However, the company recently made it accessible to the general public.
There are two package options to choose from. The first comes with 40 channels for $16 per month. The second comes with 49 channels for $20 per month.
The basic plan includes A&E, AMC, Comedy Central, Food Network, IFC, MTV, Travel Channel, and more. The premium plan comes with all the channels included in the basic plus 9 more.
You can even try Philo for free. Simply take advantage of its 7-day free trial that you can begin watching with just your mobile number. After 48 hours, enter your billing info to unlock another five free days of access.
Start watching with the Philo app, which is available for iOS. At this time there is not an available app for Android in Google Play. But you can still access the service on your Android gadget by using Google Chrome. Just sign in to the Philo website on Chrome’s mobile browser and you’re in.
