Best sites for work at home moms

Wouldn’t it be great to work from home? We’ve all thought about it and maybe even tried to find a telecommuting position.

As it turns out, a lot of us are already working from home. About one out of four people do at least some of their job from home, according to the U.S. government.

Some careers have as many as 38 percent of employees working remotely, notably finance. Other industries with a high percentage of telecommuters include computers, medical, customer service, sales, education and more.

However, if you have looked for stay-at-home jobs, you know there are plenty of scams out there. Many job listings are posted by scammers trying to take your money. So, it’s important to be careful, which is where Komando.com comes in.

The following companies, which are ideally suited for work-at-home mothers, have been screened by the job site FlexJobs. We scoured their top 100 employers for five that are ideally suited for moms.

Amazon

Surprised? You know the world’s largest retailer has plenty of on-site jobs, where you physically go to work every day. That includes warehouse work.

But Amazon also has lots of remote jobs and seasonal positions. In fact, FlexJobs said Amazon is one of the best companies when it comes to telecommuting jobs.

Among those positions is customer service representatives. Think about it: You can stay at home and work when it’s convenient for you. Best of all, though, Amazon is a highly reputable company that offers many employees competitive pay, health insurance and paid time off.

Dell

The world’s third largest computer maker is also one of the best places to work. Just ask anyone who works there now or has worked there.

The Texas-based company sells computers all over the world and interacts with those customers 24 hours a day. For Dell, one way to make sure it has happy customers is to make sure its employees are happy.

To do that, Dell has become well known for generous benefits, including health insurance, paid time off and continuing education. It also offers a multitude of work schedules that have nothing to do with 9-to-5 jobs where you’re sitting in an office all day.

Dell offers job-sharing positions, flexible hours, part-time jobs, remote positions and compressed work weeks, where you work a full week on your schedule.

A couple of months ago, Dell was hiring 300 stay-at-home employees. Those positions were offered with full benefits.
