10 ways to get free Amazon gift cards
It’s easy to understand how you can become addicted to shopping on Amazon. You can purchase a myriad of items for a multitude of purposes, all without leaving your home, and even without getting out of your pajamas.
Amazon is the ultimate online shop. You can get everything from Jeff Goldblum shower curtains to entire houses with free two-day shipping if you have Amazon Prime. Tap or click here for the weirdest things Amazon sells.
The only thing that’s better than shopping on Amazon is getting your items free. We’ll tell you 10 different ways to get free Amazon gift cards, just in time for the holidays.
1. Play games
If you like playing games online, you’ll like it even more. Some sites allow you to play games in exchange for points, which you can exchange for PayPal cash or gift cards to places like Amazon.
Sites like AppNana, Swagbucks and Appdown offer this point system. All you need to do is play games and reach certain levels, watch videos or temporarily download apps.
You don’t get very large rewards for most accomplishments, but if you’re already playing eligible games, take advantage of this system. Some apps, like AppNana, issue rewards simply for daily logins.
2. Take surveys
Bad at games? Try taking surveys instead. Sites like InboxDollars, Survey Junkie, Opinion Outpost and MyPoints, give you surveys on a range of topics. As you submit your surveys, you earn points and can cash them out for Amazon or other retail gift cards, or as a PayPal payment.
It can take a little while to build up points, and the gift cards are often for small amounts, but the surveys are easy to fill out and usually don’t take more than a few minutes to complete. This is particularly useful if you’re bored. Why not channel that boredom into earning a little extra spending money?
3. Shop online
If you shop through sites and browser extensions like Rakuten and TopCashback, you can earn cash back in the form of an Amazon gift card. All you have to do is buy what you were already planning to purchase.
With TopCashback, you get an additional 3% cash back when you select “Amazon gift card” as your payment method. With Rakuten, you get up 40% cash back on purchases, and you get paid via check or PayPal. If you go through Rakuten to get an Amazon gift card, you earn even more cash back.
We recommend this method to earn Amazon gift cards if you habitually shop online, or if you’re about to make several online purchases. It just makes sense to earn while you buy what you need anyway, right? Tap or click here to learn more about Rakuten and TopCashback.
4. Buy groceries
With Ibotta, every week when you get groceries you can select cash-back deals on certain products. Just buy those products at your local grocery store, take a picture of your receipt and submit it in the app. Ibotta gives you cash back as an Amazon gift card or as a PayPal payment.
Receipt Hog works similarly, offering deals in-app and requesting your receipt after you shop. With Receipt Hog, you earn virtual coins that can be traded in for Amazon gift cards, cash or even magazine subscriptions.
Receipt Hog also offers non-grocery deals, but since groceries are such a frequent necessity, it can be the easiest way to earn money back and get your gift cards.
5. Blog
Are you a writer? Start a blog and sign up for Amazon Associates to earn Amazon gift cards. Amazon Associates will give you affiliate links for your posts. If people click the affiliate links to buy an item, you get a portion of that sale as cash or as Amazon gift cards.
This method takes some real effort on your part, so the gift cards might not feel so “free,” but if you want to blog (or already do) you might as well sign up for the program. If you get popular, it could pay you really well.
6. Trade stuff in
Amazon will pay you in gift cards for participating in the Amazon Trade-In Program. Just send your old electronics and books to the program for assessment. Shipping your items is free, and once they’re assessed, you’ll get paid their current value in Amazon gift cards.
If your items are rejected, Amazon will send them back and you can try to sell them elsewhere. This can be a great way to get rid of items you need to toss anyway, and let you get replacements on Amazon for less.
7. Work for Amazon
Amazon can pay you in gift cards when you work for Mechanical Turk, their crowdsourcing service. When companies need some basic data entry or copy editing done for cheap, they go to Mechanical Turk.
Amazon is happy to issue payments in the form of Amazon gift cards. So if you have some time on your hands, and the right freelance skills, sign up for Mechanical Turk and earn some gift cards.
8. Search with Bing
Most people prefer to search the internet with Google, but Bing and Microsoft offer a bit more incentive with the Bing rewards program. This program allows you to earn points for every search you do on Bing.
You can earn even more points by using Bing on the Microsoft Edge browser, and get those points converted into a free gift card. It takes a little time to earn enough points for a gift card, but if you’re constantly on the internet, it’s worth it.
9. Use a credit card
If you’re looking to open a new line of credit and can trust yourself to spend responsibly, get the Amazon Visa card. You earn points when you use the card on or off Amazon, though you earn more on the site, and you can redeem them for gift cards faster than you would with any of the previous methods.
For the frequent, responsible Amazon shopper, this might be the best way to earn free gift cards, but if you worry about your credit card spending, don’t go down this path.
10. Reload an Amazon gift card
You can get free Amazon gift cards by using Amazon gift cards.
Confused? Let us explain. By reloading $100 or more on a gift card you already have, Amazon issues you an extra $5 gift card. Not only do you recycle a card, which is good for the environment, but now you get a little extra back.
If you want to get someone an Amazon gift card, this could give you a little gift as well, or you could get an extra $5 if you want to spend $100 on Amazon for yourself. It’s not the best conversion rate, but it is a free gift card, so depending on your circumstances you might appreciate this option.
