Beaches are beautiful. They’re also basically a buffet of buried bad decisions, lost flip-flops and things nobody wants to identify. China deployed autonomous beach-cleaning robots that cruise the shoreline, scan for buried trash with high-precision sensors and run fully electric.

Officials claim they clean up to 10 times faster than humans. No complaints, no “eww, gross,” no calling in sick on a Sunday. Simply a relentless little machine quietly condemning every person who ever left a Red Bull can or worse in the sand.
