Use AI to find the cheapest way to upgrade your flight

You open the airline app the night before your flight, and there it is: “Upgrade to first class for $297.” Two taps later, you remember you have 30,000 miles doing nothing. Then you remember the credit card with some upgrade perk you never read about.
I love that airlines give you seven ways to upgrade, then hide each one when you need it. The cash offer? $297. Using miles? 30,000 miles are valued at 1.3 cents each, plus a $75 fee, so $465 total. Clicking the miles button without checking would cost you $168.
AI can gather every upgrade path for one specific flight in about 10 minutes.
✈️ Make the bots open all the doors
Open ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Grok and turn on web search. Skip your confirmation code, passwords and card numbers. Paste this:
You’re my airline upgrade strategist. [AIRLINE] flight [NUMBER], [DATE], [ORIGIN] to [DESTINATION]. Ask me in one batch for my fare class, status, miles, certificates, bank points, cards, the current cash offer and my budget. Then rank every upgrade path this airline offers by total cost, price miles at a stated value, mark each one confirmed or wait list, label estimates and flag anything I can’t undo.
Do the final clicks yourself. Airline websites limit automated tools. A wait list is where hope goes to die behind a guy named Greg with better status. And an upgrade can vanish at the gate.
Some quick homework keeps the $168 in your pocket and 30,000 miles for a trip that deserves them. First class is mostly the same flight with a warmer nut. Speaking of, What did the football player say to the flight attendant? Put me in coach.
📩 Send this to someone who clicks “Upgrade Now” before reading the price.
