10 things you need to know about the new Apple iPhones, Watch, TV and more

Apple just announced its brand new iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus models. Rumors have been circulating for months, especially surrounding the iPhone lineup. But which of these rumors actually turned out to be true?

Millions tuned in to Apple's 2017 product launch event hoping to find out. And, finally, we know exactly what will be hitting shelves in just a few weeks. There’s a lot to dive into, so we're going to answer the most important questions you're probably already asking.

1. What does the new iPhone have that old iPhones don't?

All year long we've kept you updated with the most recent iPhone rumors. And, many of those rumors turned out to be true.

As speculated, the new iPhones have processing power that’s 70 percent faster than older chips, wireless charging, better selfie cameras and dual lenses, a brighter OLED screen and an edge-to-edge display that lets you unlock your phone by just smiling. Shop carefully, the exact features vary from model to model.

2. How many different models are available, and what's the cost?

iPhone 8 and 8 Plus

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will each come with two storage size options, 64 GB and 256 GB. For the iPhone 8, you'll pay $699 for the 64 GB version, and $849 for the 256 GB.

The iPhone 8 Plus will start at $799 for the 64 GB version, and $949 for the 256 GB.

iPhone X

Apple’s front runner, the iPhone X will also come with the option of 64 GB or 256 GB. However, each of these models is going to cost you. To buy the iPhone X 64 GB, be prepared to shell out $999, and $1,149 for the 256 GB version.

3. Is the iPhone X much different than the others?

Yes. 2017 marks the 10-year anniversary of the iPhone, so Apple had to do something really special. Basically, you get all of the new upgrades of the iPhone 8, and then some.

The iPhone X has numerous features. It has longer battery life, a facial scanner called Face ID, and much more power with its A11 Bionic chip. It also has a 12MP wide-angle and telephoto camera, which takes amazing photos and can take 4K video that records at 24 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps.

In addition to the iPhone 8's new features, the iPhone X includes facial recognition. The Home button is also gone so you only have to look at your new phone to unlock it. Apple also improved the retina display, upped the pixel density to improve picture quality, and included a battery that lasts up to two hours longer.

Design wise, the 5.8-inch screen is basically the entire surface of the phone. And Apple promises that the glass used is the most durable ever. Oh, and don't forget - it's water and dust resistant, and can charge wirelessly!

4. Should you shell out the money?

We get it. $700-$1,200 is a lot of money for an iPhone. It's almost double or triple the amount you'd spend on a decent laptop. But, people will pay it. If you've used an iPhone long enough, you'll recognize this as a typical Apple pricing strategy. You can buy the iPhone 8, or for just $200 more you can get the best model out there.

So, is it worth it? Only you can decide. Maybe you don’t need a new camera, or don't like the idea of facial recognition. But, if you're still holding on to your iPhone 5 or 6, these new models would definitely make good upgrades.

5. When can you get your hands on a new iPhone?

The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, as well as the Apple TV 4K, and the Apple Watch Series 3, will be available for pre-order on September 15, and will be available for purchase September 22.

The iPhone X will be available for pre-order on October 27, and available on November 3.

6. Is Apple just copying Samsung?

When you compare the two, they are a lot alike, same size, just about the same resolution, processors, you get the drift. The Samsung is $250 cheaper than the iPhone X. But the Samsung has iris scanning over facial recognition, which isn’t as secure. It’s basically easier to crack than a person’s entire face.

Ultimately, it comes down to your preferences, you need to make a purchase that falls in the price range and has all the features you're looking for. To get more information about the Samsung Galaxy S8, click here. That way, you can make an informed decision.

8. Is the new Apple Watch worth the money?

Apple Watch is now stated to be the number one purchased watch in the world. One thing that was holding it back was needing the have the iPhone with you to make calls. That's not the case anymore with Watch Series 3. You can now call anywhere, without needing your iPhone nearby.

Another great feature is the ability to stream Apple music on your watch. That's over 40 million songs on your wrist! Plus, you can now enjoy up to 18 hours of battery life and take advantage of all of the newly-added physical activity apps.

However, the new call function of the Apple Watch is going to cost you. If you're considering purchasing this product, first understand that it requires its own cellphone plan that costs $10 per month for service.

9. iOS 11 highlights

There are a lot of great changes coming to iOS 11. Features like using Apple Pay to pay friends just by using the messages App. You can also set up a new iPhone just by touching it to another iOS device using iOS 11. 10. What’s the deal with the new emoji?

We know, but it’ll be fun to use. Emojis are now animated and use facial tracking and your voice. They’re called, Animojis.

It's all part of the new iOS 11, which has some other great features such as a do not disturb while driving mode, better video and photo editing, and the days of having to look up your Wi-Fi password when friends visit are over. Now, you can just send the password to your friend's phone. Love that!
