One site that has one of the best, if not the best, collection of animal live streams around is explore.org. Explore describes itself as "a multimedia organization that documents leaders around the world who have devoted their lives to extraordinary causes" - causes like animal rights, human services, environment, education and spirituality.
With its expanding library of films, archived videos and live streams, Explore aims to both inspire and educate by letting viewers around the world vicariously witness unique events and experiences as they happen.
To get your animal live stream fill now that April the giraffe has given birth, we picked some of explore.org's best streams you can monitor right now. I can watch these amazing streams all day!
Note that all these streams are either taken in the wild or within endangered animal conservation facilities.
1. Gengda Valley Panda Cam
Who doesn't like pandas? Giant Pandas at that? Due to farming and deforestation, these particularly cute bears have been driven out of their natural habitat and were unfortunately on the "endangered" list for a long time. Thanks to conservation efforts, the Giant Panda's status has been upgraded from "endangered" to "vulnerable" in recent years but they're not out of danger yet.
This stream features wild giant pandas housed in the Gengda Wolong Panda Center in the Gengda Xingfu Valley in China. Watch these pandas do what they do best...be the lovable pandas they really are!
2. Great Gray Owl Nest
The world's largest species of owl, the Great Gray Owl, is featured in this next live stream. Usually found in North America, the Great Gray Owl is considered an endangered species in many areas. In fact, in 2015, they have estimated that there are fewer than 300 of these birds within California.
This 24/7 live cam stream of a Great Gray Owl inhabiting its nest is located in Western Montana and is brought to the public with the combined efforts of explore.org and the Owl Research Institute.
3. Lioness Nikita - Big Cat Rescue
Lioness Nikita's backstory is quite harrowing. Before her rescue, she was found chained to a wall of a crack house in Tennessee during a drug bust operation. Due to the way she was confined, she suffered from multiple physical issues. Additionally, because she was declawed, she can't be housed in a zoo together with other lions.
Thankfully, Big Cat Rescue in Tampa Florida took her in, giving her a good, nurturing and expansive home.
4. Penguin Beach
This live stream features the Magellanic penguins of the Aquarium of the Pacific, with a number of them rescued from being stranded outside of their natural habitat in Brazil. Watch this above water view of their new home as they join the more than 11,000 animals housed in the Aquarium, featuring the rich diversity of the wildlife in the Pacific.
5. Brooks Falls - Katmai National Park, Alaska
Alaska's Brooks River in Katmai National Park is the home of over a hundred Brown Bears as they congregate to hunt and feed on Sockeye Salmon during Spring time. With this live stream, it is really amazing to see how Brown Bears conduct themselves in their natural habitat.
This is just a small taste of what explore.org can offer. They have the largest collection of animal live streams, after all. Don't forget to check out their website for other fantastic live footage ranging from exotic birds and marine life to rescue animal shelters.
