How to save and delete every voicemail

Is the voicemail box on your smartphone full of old messages? These messages are downloaded locally to your phone when you listen to them and they can take up valuable storage space.

It might seem like an inconsequential amount of space, but every bit counts. With this in mind, I'll show you how to delete voicemails from your smartphone, both one at a time and multiples at once.

Deleting voicemails from an Android phone

With an Android phone, you can delete voicemails both individually or a few at the same time. Here are the steps to delete them:

  • Open the Voicemail menu
  • Press More in the upper-right corner

Once you delete a voicemail on Android it's permanently gone from your phone and is no longer using storage space. If you backed up your Android in a cloud service the voicemails could be found there, but still are not using space on your phone.

  • Tap the Deleted Messages folder
  • Tap Clear All in the top-right corner; a pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm that you would like to delete all voicemails
  • Tap Clear All to confirm

Delete multiple voicemails at once

Here are the steps to delete multiple voicemails from your iPhone at once:

  • Open the Phone app
  • Tap the Voicemail tab
  • Tap Edit in the upper-right corner
  • Select each voicemail that you want to delete. You will see a check mark to the left on each selected voicemail
  • Tap Delete on the bottom-right corner

All of these voicemails will be moved to the Deleted Messages folder. To delete them permanently and free up space, follow the steps above.
