How to rotate vertical video from your phone

Our phones have amazing capabilities, including crystal clear HD video recording. But if you start recording vertically, then switch to horizontal, something happens in playback. The video gets stuck in portrait mode. That means even if your phone is turned on its side, the video will stay straight up and down. Fortunately, there's an easy fix for both Windows and Mac users.

For Mac users:

  1. Import your video using "Photos" or "Image Capture"
  2. Open your video with QuickTime Player
  3. Click "Edit" then "Rotate Right/Left"
  4. Save when the orientation is correct

For Windows users:

  1. Import your video using File Explorer
  2. Open your video with Windows Movie Maker
  3. Click "Edit" then "Rotate Right/Left"
  4. Save when the orientation is correct
