The tech world is full of fads and buzzwords, whether it's Big Data, the Cloud, Web 2.0, data mining, next generation, or one of the other few dozen phrases floating around any tech convention or marketing brainstorming session. One of the big ones at the moment that I'm sure you've noticed is "smart."
You hear it in smart TV, smartwatch, smart home, smart lightbulb, smart fridge, smart toilet, smart car, etc. Just take an everyday object and throw "smart" at the front and someone is probably making a product. We talk a lot about smart products at Komando.com, and today we're going to look at smart guns and gun accessories.
Before we go on, we should acknowledge that there are a lot of strong feelings and opinions about everything gun-related at the moment. As per our policy, we're not looking to take a political stance; we're just going to outline the technology that's out there at the moment.
This technology falls into two areas: making guns more lethal and making them safer. And we're going to start with the poster child for each one.
