You won’t believe how much these sneakers are worth on eBay

Right now, there’s a pair of old sneakers up for grabs on eBay with a starting bid of $15,000. Whoa, that’s a lot of money for some used shoes! Surely they must have belonged to Wilt Chamberlain or some other basketball legend, right?

Wrong! These used shoes probably never set foot on a professional basketball court. Instead, they most likely walked the halls of an Apple Computer Inc. office building.

Heritage Auctions, an auction house in Dallas, has partnered with eBay to sell vintage Apple sneakers (men’s size 9.5) to the highest bidder. According to the description, the sneakers were, “produced by Apple exclusively for their employees in the early 1990s.”

Psst: You might not have old Apple sneakers, but maybe you own something just as valuable. Check your attic for these vintage tech items that are worth thousands!

Are you impressed with the design? Other than the rainbow Macintosh logo on the shoe tongue and outer side, not much separates these shoes from any other pair of Adidas made in the 90s. In fact, they weren’t all that popular back then so Apple abandoned this fashion venture.

However, new sneakers designed by the hottest basketball stars and the latest Apple devices are two things that are known to have fanatics lined up and camping out days before their release. With that in mind, you can see how these shoes could be a very hot item.

Leon Benrimon, who is the director of modern and contemporary art at Heritage Auctions, says that he expects the shoes to sell for at least $30,000. Beninom’s friend actually found them at a garage sale!

The auction will start at 11 a.m. on June 11th at the Heritage Auctions location in Beverly Hills, California. There will also be live bidding online. If you want to get in on the bidding war then click here to sign up on eBay or click here to sign up on the Heritage Auctions website.

If the shoes sell for some astronomical amount then maybe Apple Inc. will get back into the fashion industry. If so, we’d expect their kicks to have Wi-Fi like Virgin America’s First Class Shoe, tie themselves like Nike Mags, and maybe even order pizza like these limited edition Pizza sneakers.
