This Amazon smart home plug was sold out for a great reason

With all of the latest and greatest technology it can feel like we’re living in a sci-fi flick sometimes. Imagine Captain Kirk speaking with Scotty on his handheld communicator from the classic series Star Trek.

Now tell me those flip phones we used to have don’t remind you of those. There have been plenty of other gadgets that first appeared on the big screen to come to life also. Who could forget the Jetsons’ robot maid, Rosie? Now we have robots that will vacuum and mop our floors for us. How cool is that!?

The amazing possibilities are endless. One of the coolest inventions recently are smart home plugs and Amazon has one that you’re going to love!

Smart plug works with Alexa

The new Amazon Smart Plug will let you control anything plugged into it with your voice. That’s because it’s built to work with Alexa.

If you already have smart plugs that are Alexa-compatible, you know how fantastic they are. Instead of stumbling around in the dark trying to find the lamp, just say, “Alexa, turn on the lamp.” And voila, just like that your room is lit.

(Note: These smart plugs work with Alexa, however, you still need an Alexa device like an Echo or Echo Dot to control them with your voice.)

What makes these smart plugs great is how simple they are to set up and use. Just plug your lamp in, open the Alexa app, and start using your voice. It’s that easy.

With other smart plugs, you need to download an additional app from the manufacturer and carry out numerous steps to get it to work. The Amazon Smart Plug eliminates all those extra, confusing steps. That’s because Amazon Wi-Fi simple setup lets customers connect any smart devices to their Wi-Fi network easily.

Supported smart gadgets like second generation and newer Echo Plus, Echo Dot, and Echo Show all come with simple setup. So do the new Amazon Smart Plugs, and the Amazon Basics Microwave.

Your Wi-Fi password is stored in your Amazon account, so new Amazon gadgets get automatically added to your network. Once you use the plug, you’ll see a message pop-up on your phone from Alexa letting you know that a new plug named First plug has been found.

All you need to do is go into the Alexa app and change the name of the plug if you want to. That way if you have multiple plugs, you can say “Alexa, turn on the lamp” or “Alexa, turn on the fan” and it’ll know which device to turn on or off. It’s pretty cool.

You can order one from Amazon for just under $25.

Check it out and see what you think. You could have a super smart home in no time.
