The third annual Amazon Prime Day starts in just a few hours. Here’s a recap of everything you need to know! Plus, check out the deals that Amazon has already revealed!
Most important reminder: you need to be a Prime member to get Prime Day deals! If you don’t already have a membership, try it for free and then get rid of it once Prime Day is over if you don’t like it. If you own an Echo, Dot, Tap, or Show then say “Alexa, sign me up for Prime.” Instead of $99 for the annual membership, it will cost $79.
Prime Day begins tonight at 9 p.m. EST/ 6 p.m. PST. But if you own an Echo, Dot, Show, Tap, Fire TV or a compatible Fire tablet then you can start voice shopping at 7 p.m. EST/4 p.m. PST!
Before Prime Day
As the clock ticks down, here are the deals that all Prime members can take advantage of right now:
- Get 40 percent off a Kindle Unlimited (books) membership and an Audible (audio books) membership
- New Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers can get four months for only 99 cents
- Get coupons for up to 35 percent off of Prime Pantry food and household products
- Get 20 percent off certain brands in the Amazon Warehouse

If you download the free Amazon app (click here for Apple and click here for Android) then you can “watch” deals that aren’t live yet and set a notification for when they do go on sale. You can also drag products to a list to compare deals and get notifications when your item has shipped.
During Prime Day
If you start your shopping on the smile.amazon.com site instead of amazon.com then Amazon will donate a percentage of your purchase to the charity of your choice!
If you buy items with the new Prime Reload service (debit card), you get 2 percent rewards on all your purchases. If you buy items with the Prime Store Card (credit card) then, you get up to 20 percent back on thousands of Prime Day items.

Special Prime Day deals for people who own an Alexa-enabled device (Echo, Dot, Show, Tap, Fire TV or a compatible Fire tablet) will last through July 17. To access these deals, you must say “Alexa, what are your deals?” The deals change frequently so you need to ask periodically. According to Amazon, here are a few of the Alexa deals.
