Over 550,000 dishwashers recalled for fire hazards, mine was on the list

Products are being recalled all the time. Many recalls are for very minor problems that wouldn’t cause the consumer any harm. That’s not the case here.

Over half a million dishwashers have been recalled for scary fire hazards. Thanks to the internet we’re able to find out about dangerous recalls like this one. Keep reading to find out if your dishwasher is on the recall list, mine was.

Is your dishwasher a fire hazard?

Over two years ago there was a massive recall of 149,000 dishwashers. The recall was prompted by reports of overheating power cords that could burst into flames. It included several major brands such as Bosch and Kenmore.

That safety recall is being expanded. Now, over 408,000 more dishwashers are being recalled due to potential fire hazards.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said the total number of recalled dishwashers is now 557,000. The impacted dishwashers were manufactured by BSH Home Appliances and sold under these brand names:

  • Bosch
  • Gaggenau
  • Jenn-Air
  • Thermador
  • Kenmore Elite

To find out if your dishwasher has been recalled, you’ll need to check the model and serial number. They are printed inside the dishwasher either on the top of the dishwasher inner door panel or on the side of the dishwasher panel. Here is a list of the affected model and serial numbers:
