New money-saving Amazon Prime perk

Amazon is a beast in the world of online retailers. It’s come a long way since the early days when it began as a virtual bookstore.

Nowadays, you can purchase pretty much anything that comes to mind through the site, within reason of course. If you have Amazon Prime, you’re getting the goods and getting them fast, along with many other perks.  It’s so popular that CEO Jeff Bezos recently announced there are over 100 million Amazon Prime members. Many people originally signed-up for Prime for the free two-day shipping. However, there have been several amazing perks added to the Prime experience over the years. In fact, a new perk is on the way that you’re probably going to love.

Prime perks popping up offline

In the summer of 2017, Amazon announced that it had acquired the popular supermarket chain, Whole Foods. It’s just one of the many moves the company has been making to have a larger presence in the brick-and-mortar retail world.

At the time, the Whole Foods CEO said, “This partnership presents an opportunity to maximize value for Whole Foods Market’s shareholders, while at the same time extending our mission and bringing the highest quality, experience, convenience and innovation to our customers.”

Well, that value is about to show up for Prime members. That’s because Amazon announced this week a new loyalty program for Prime members. They will receive an extra 10 percent off hundreds of sale items and specials that rotate on a weekly basis.

To get the deals, you will need to download the Whole Foods app on your gadget and log-in with your Amazon credentials. Doing this creates a code that will be scanned by the Whole Foods cashier at checkout.

You can also link your phone number to your Prime account. That way when you shop at Whole Foods you only have to punch-in your phone number at checkout, just like you do with your favorite grocery stores’ loyalty card program.

This new perk is available right now to folks in Florida. It will be rolling out nationwide beginning this summer.

More Whole Foods perks for Prime members

Earlier, the company added free 2-hour delivery from Whole Foods Market in select cities for Prime members. Another perk is 5 percent back at Whole Foods for eligible Prime members with the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card.

Plus, there are special savings just for Prime members. That’s right, Whole Foods Market has discounted pricing on select items throughout the store that are only available to Prime members.

When Amazon purchased the grocery chain, it said that one of its goals was to bring quality food to the masses at good prices. People used to joke about how expensive it was to shop at Whole Foods. It had mockingly acquired the nickname, “Whole Paycheck.”

We’ll have to wait and see if these changes actually bring reasonable prices to consumers.
