If you’re feeling a little extra excitement in the air today, I probably know what it is. Amazon Prime Day gets underway tomorrow.
That’s right, at 3:00 p.m. Eastern on Monday, July 16 the scrambling for savings will begin. It’s even better this year as we get a day and a half to enjoy the extravaganza.
The massive sales event goes through Tuesday, July 17 and millions of Americans will be taking part. But not everyone knows how to score the biggest savings. Don’t worry, we’ll help you. Keep reading and we’ll give you some Prime Day pro tips to get you the best experience.
Saving big on Amazon Prime Day
Deals for non-Prime members
If you’re not an Amazon Prime member, you can still take advantage of some Prime Day sales. Not all of the discounted items during Prime Day are exclusive to members.
Keep an eye on the sales and you’ll find plenty that are available for purchase without a membership. You won’t get the free 2-day shipping like Prime members but the savings could be enough to not worry about that.
Stay sharp my friends
The challenge on Prime Day, besides sorting through the many, many items, is making sure you are able to take advantage of whichever deals you are after. While some deals are your typical sales, others will be Lightning Deals and therefore will need to be purchased as soon as you see them.
If you are unfamiliar with Lightning Deals, the general premise is they are provided on very specific items and usually last for a set amount of time. That could mean they are available for just a few minutes, or possibly whenever the item sells out.
Lightning Deals show up frequently, but randomly. There will also be Prime Day Spotlight Deals, which have a greater inventory and thus are available longer, as well as Gold Box Deals of the Day, which will be around for 24 hours before being replaced.
Secret promo most people don’t know about
Amazon is running a promo tied to its iOS and Android apps. You can get an extra $5 off select deals just by using the app’s camera function. The promo is actually running six different times throughout Prime Day, so you can save a total of $30 if you take advantage of each promo.
Alexa to the rescue
If you happen to own an Echo or other device with Alexa, you will be able to ask it for some help. Simply say, “Alexa, what are your deals?” and you will gain access to exclusive deals that are not available elsewhere.
You will also have the chance to shop for certain deals a little earlier than those who are only using Amazon’s website.
Great deal for music lovers
One of the best Prime perks is Amazon Music. Much of Amazon’s music collection can be heard through its streaming service, almost like Spotify.
Unfortunately, not all of your favorite music is included with the free version. You will need to pay for Amazon Music Unlimited for that.
There are millions of songs available to stream and they are ad-free and on-demand. which you can get at a discounted rate with your Prime membership. For non-Prime members, it costs $9.99 per month, but as a Prime member, you get it for $7.99 per month.
Even better, there is a Prime Day special going on right now. As a Prime member, if you subscribe to Amazon Music Unlimited right now you’ll get four months for just 99 cents.
This deal is for new Music Unlimited subscribers only. After four months, you will be charged the regular subscription fee of $7.99 per month or $79 per year, but you can cancel at any time.
