As if you needed another reason to sign up! But since keeping customers happy with new incentives is always a good business plan, Amazon just added a new perk that pays you to shop with your debit card.
Amazon Prime Reload is a new program where Prime members earn 2 percent rewards every time they reload their Amazon.com Gift Card Balance with funds from their checking account. There are no fees or interest and your card’s balance never expires.
All Amazon customers have several options for paying for products. In the “Amazon Wallet” section of your account, you can choose from a debit card, credit card, store card, gift card, or linking a checking account.
To use Prime Reload, you would need to select the Amazon Gift Card option for your purchases. To set up the service, you’ll need to provide your bank account and routing number, your debit card number, and your driver’s license number. When it’s time to reload your gift card’s balance, be sure to select the 2 percent rewards option.
Amazon said most rewards will be added to your gift card balance within five minutes of adding more funds. However, some reloads could take up to four hours if the transaction needs to be reviewed. By providing your debit card and account number, Amazon said that reloads are faster.
Prime reload cannot be used in conjunction with the Amazon.com Store Card or the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card. The store card offers 5 percent rewards and financing options on larger purchases. The Visa card offers 5 percent back on Amazon.com purchases, 2 percent back at gas stations, restaurants, and drugstores, 1 percent on every other purchase.
