8 Amazon deals you need to get today

Who’s ready for a 3-day weekend? I know I am. With Memorial Day coming up, there will be sales everywhere. While I enjoy the money I save, I don’t want to spend my holiday weekend hunting for bargains in stores or websites.

Luckily, Amazon’s holiday deals already have started. With Memorial Day weekend seen as the unofficial start of summer, Amazon’s deals focus on yard work. But, you can also find deals on smart home devices. Plus, there are bargains galore on a host of smart TVs, with some as much as 35% off.

Here are our 8 favorite Amazon deals you can snatch up before Memorial Day.

Eco-friendly lawn mower and smart sprinkler system

Rachio Generation 2 Smart Sprinkler Controller

Installing a sprinkler system may be hard manual labor, but setting up a sprinkler controller can drive you bonkers. So, thank heavens for the Rachio Generation 2 Smart Sprinkler Controller.

Amazon says it’s the highest-rated Wi-Fi sprinkler controller on the retail site. Plus, it works with Alexa. Just download the Rachio app and you can control your sprinklers remotely with your smartphone, tablet or laptop.

You can set your own watering schedule or input details like plant type and sun exposure and Rachio automatically will water your lawn and plants when needed. Using its Rachio Weather Intelligence, it automatically adjusts your sprinkler schedule based on the latest local forecasts. Best of all, you can install it yourself with no special tools or expertise required.

Greenworks Cordless Lawn Mower

No struggling with power cords or gas-powered engines, the Greenworks Cordless Lawn Mower runs on a 40-volt ion battery. This particular model has a 20-inch cutting deck.

Full disclosure, I own one of these babies and I can tell you they are lightweight and really do the job. With a 45-minute charge, it’s great for a small to medium-sized lawn. You can get a large yard done, but be prepared to recharge the battery.

The mower runs so quiet, I’ve actually had neighbors come over to ask if it was a toy mower. Once I showed them what it could do, the neighbors went away impressed. Larger models are available and cost more.

Robots that clean your floors and a smart garage door system

iRobot Roomba 675 Robot Vacuum

This model has Wi-Fi connectivity, works with Alexa, picks up pet hair and works on carpets and hard floors. As with all Roombas, intelligent sensors guide the robot under and around furniture.

Its patented Dirt Detect sensors tell Roomba to work harder on concentrated areas of dirt, such as high-traffic zones in your home. And, because it works with Alexa, you can run it from anywhere at anytime.

iRobot Braava Jet 240 Superior Robot Mop

Now that the dirt, pet hair and other debris has been picked up by the iRobot Roomba, you’ll probably want to mop your floors. You can get another Roomba for that or try something new.

iRobot’s Braava Jet 240 Superior Robot Mop does the job at an affordable cost, according to many of the Amazon reviews. The Braava is app-enabled, so it can guide itself around furniture just like a Roomba.

With its systematic cleaning pattern, it can maneuver around hard-to-reach places such as under and around toilets, corners and below cabinets. It also automatically selects the correct cleaning mode based on the Braava jet pad type.

myQ Smart Garage Door Opener

This is definitely not your parents’ garage-door opener — though it might be compatible with it. Wireless and Wi-Fi-enabled, open and close your garage door from anywhere with your smartphone through the myQ App.

You can also get alerts when your garage door opens or closes in real time by setting up customized notifications. With its easy-to-add functionality, you can upgrade your existing garage door opener.

In fact, the myQ is compatible with most brands of garage door openers made after 1993. You can also link your myQ account to Google Assistant for $10 a year. The garage-door status notifications are free.

TVs with built-in streaming devices and works of art

TCL 40S325 43-inch 1080p Smart LED Roku TV

If you’re not looking for a lot of bells and whistles, this TCL model is worth the affordable price and makes your TV binge-worthy. It comes with Roku built-in, so you can stream all of your favorite movies and shows directly with Wi-Fi.

The Frame Smart TV

It’s official name is the Samsung UN55LS03NAFXZA Flat 55-inch LED 4K UHD. But you can just call it The Frame. It offers a screen with four times the resolution of a full HD TV and one slim cable that combines your power and video gear into a single connection.

Obviously, this TV is Wi-Fi enabled and you can stream any TV or computer app. But what makes it special? Well, it can also be a work of art when you’re not watching TV. Activate the built-in motion sensor so whenever you walk into the room, the TV displays one of your favorite art selections that you can buy online at the Samsung Art store.

Push the button once and get a 360-degree flip that you can capture on video. A quadcopter, the drone is is easy enough for beginners to use and enjoyable enough for pros.
