Businesses have most questionable data gathering and sharing practices

Texas-based tech company Osano launched a new system rating websites that collect your personal data.

They’ve recently published their “data privacy misleaders board” — a list no company wants their website to be on. The companies rated at the bottom of Osano’s transparency scale include Capital One, NBC News, Go Fund Me, and Accuweather.

Osano CEO and co-founder Arlo Gilbert likened the rating to a credit score. The worst score a company can get is 300, while the best is 850. Companies also are judged in five categories, where they are ranked from very poor to exceptional. Osano plans on releasing a list of iffy websites every month.
