Ford recalls vehicles for defects and safety issues

Automobiles are being recalled all the time. It happens so frequently that we recently wrote a tip on how to find if your car has a safety recall.

Another safety recall impacting hundreds of thousands of vehicles in North America has just been issued. Keep reading to see if yours is on the list.

Is your vehicle being recalled?

Ford announced last week that it is issuing a safety recall on over 117,000 vehicles. The vehicles are being recalled to replace improperly tempered seat, seatback, seat belt and/or seatbelt buckle attaching bolts.

The car manufacturer said, “In affected vehicles, if a seat, seatback or [seatbelt] anchor attaching bolt fractures, the structural integrity of the seat or the seatbelt system’s performance may be compromised in a sudden stop or crash, increasing the risk of injury. Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue. Dealers will replace affected bolts at no cost to the customer.”

The Ford reference number for this recall is 17S17. Here is a list of affected vehicles:

  • 2014 Ford F-150
  • 2014 Ford E-Series
  • 2014 Ford Escape
  • 2015 Ford Escape
  • 2015 Lincoln MKC

Impacted customers should receive a notification letter from Ford. If you have a vehicle on the recall list and have not been contacted yet, call your local dealership and schedule an appointment.
