WestStar Multimedia Entertainment is an established national broadcasting company that is home to The Kim Komando Show. The Kim Komando Show for radio is syndicated and broadcast nationally, distributed via satellite to more than 400 top radio stations with 6.5 million weekly listeners. The Kim Komando Show for television is launching internationally in October 2018.
Kim was the first national female talk host to discuss consumer electronics since 1995. The program originates at WestStar’s 24,000 sq. ft. broadcast center in central Phoenix.
We also create and distribute four national podcasts, and developing our own podcast network.
We are looking for a skilled marketer who will focus on audience development and support the production of our podcasts and network. You should care deeply about developing compelling stories, get excited about building new audiences, and thrive in an environment of change.
This position is located in Phoenix, Arizona.
What you’ll do
Monitor and grow podcast shows
Manage production schedules and scripting process
Manage and further develop podcast freelancers
Manage and grow email lists, social channels, and communities that support our podcasts
Work with members across the marketing team to create promotional materials (blog posts, emails, social updates, videos and design elements) to drive growth and retention
Devise and test new strategies and one-off campaigns to drive audience growth and retention
Test podcast-specific calls-to-action to improve business impact
Generate ideas for new guests, listener engagement projects, and new episode formats
Identify and pitch guests, lead pre-interview calls, research episodes, and prepare hosts for recordings
Support production of episodes according to deadlines
Create and manage podcast calendar and assign podcasts topics for production
Coordinate, record, and create in-episode promotional content to support podcasts and larger company goals
Review metrics and base programming decisions on data
Analyze strategies on a regular basis and report on the performance of shows
Edit, proof, and write podcast scripts as needed
Who you are
3-5 years experience in marketing, communications, or podcasting and have worked in a deadline-driven environment
Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, marketing, communication, or related field or have an impressive portfolio of examples
Data-based examples of how you've built an audience
Exceptional writing, research, and editing skills, and experience writing for various mediums and channels (video, email, audio, social, etc.)
Preference given to individuals with experience in podcasting and audio production or a strong interest in learning
Self-motivated, highly organized, and can adapt to changing goals and projects
Naturally curious and driven to experiment. Because you want your work to have a big impact, you’re willing to challenge the status quo and take calculated risks
Seek out feedback to hone your craft. There’s always something else you can learn and improve on
Collaborate well with current team consisting of a producer and a supporting team of designers, writers, and video producers
