Apparently, goldendoodles barking at the Amazon delivery guy aren’t intimidating enough. Silicon Valley wants to genetically engineer dogs into four-legged super soldiers.

Warhound, a $1.2 billion startup backed by $200 million in funding, is creating military dogs with enhanced speed, agility and bomb-sniffing abilities, then outfitting them with high-tech goggles and sensor-equipped bulletproof vests.

German shepherd meets Captain America, with a little RoboCop sprinkled in. Dog births are expected next year. Until then, your golden retriever’s biggest mission remains retrieving a sock.
