Millions of Americans will be getting together with family and friends this week to spend Christmas together. That usually means hours of prep and cook time for the wonderful holiday feast.
Unfortunately, Christmas lands on a Wednesday this year. If you only get Christmas day off from work, you might decide to save some time and not whip up such a spectacular meal. Tap or click here for meal planning apps.
We have some good news. There are more options than playing the role of an amateur chef this year. A handful of restaurants will be open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Restaurants open Christmas Day
Most restaurants will be observing Christmas Day and giving employees time off; however, there are some wonderful choices that will be open that day.
Some of them will even offer special holiday menus. Make sure to check with your local restaurants ahead of time to verify their hours and see if you need a reservation.
Here is a list of some of the places you can enjoy your Christmas meal at this year:
Boston Market serves up Christmas dinner-type meals year-round, so it makes sense you’d want to have your meal there. If you want the big day to feel more like a traditional Christmas, order your meal ahead of time from Boston Market and simply pick it up to go and enjoy at home.
Buca di Beppo
If you want to change things up this year, why not go for an Italian-style Christmas meal? Buca di Beppo opens at 11 a.m. Christmas Day and you can make reservations now.
Buffalo Wild Wings
Speaking of non-traditional, how about some wings for Christmas? Of course, Buffalo Wild Wings does have more options on its menu than wings, but the tasty bits are what it’s most famous for.
How about starting Christmas off right with a nice breakfast from Denny’s? While you’re there you can pick up one of its new turkey and dressing dinner packs. It comes with tender carved turkey breast, stuffing, red-skinned mashed potatoes, choice of broccoli or creamed corn, turkey gravy and cranberry sauce.
This is a limited time offer and must be ordered at least 24 hours in advance. The dinner pack serves up to four people.
Fogo de Chão
For the meat lovers out there, give Fogo de Chão a try. The Brazilian steakhouse is known for its excellent barbecued meats. Christmas Day hours will vary by location, so make sure to call ahead.
If breakfast is more your thing, IHOP has your back. Most IHOP locations will be open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and there’s even a special holiday menu you can enjoy.
Most Macaroni Grill locations will be open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It’s offering a special three-course menu for $25 that includes an appetizer, entree and dessert. The dinner menu will also be available. Reservations are recommended.
Old Country Buffet
If you really want to chow down on Christmas, head to Old Country Buffet. Most locations will be open Christmas Day, but with limited hours so make sure to check ahead of time.
Don’t worry coffee lovers, we didn’t forget about you. Many Starbucks locations will be open Christmas Day so you can get your caffeine fix. Locations will be open Christmas Eve as well, but many will be closing early. Make sure to check your favorite locations planned hours ahead of time.
