Is recall news technically technology? Well, it is when you consider today’s cars are just moving computers. Food recalls? Not really — but hey, I make it my job to keep you safe. This is important stuff, so share it with your circle.
In the fridge
Red alert, Trader Joe’s, Costco and Walmart shoppers! There’s a deadly listeria outbreak tied to cheese and dairy products from Modesto, California-based Rizo-López Foods.
“Never heard of it, Kim.” You’re not out of the woods yet. Their products were used in dips, dressings, salad and taco kits sold at Albertson’s, Costco, H-E-B and Trader Joe’s — along with salad kits sold at Costco, Walmart and Winco. (Click those links for complete product lists.)

- 2 million garment steamers from Steamfast, Vornado and Sharper Image can spray hot water where you don’t want it. Ow.
- Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerators have an issue: Plastic pieces making it into the ice bucket.
- 400K gas-powered yard trimmers sold at Lowes and on Amazon can catch fire.
- Bissell hand and floor vacs sold at Lowe’s, Macy’s, Kohl’s, Target, Walmart and Best Buy, you guessed it, can catch on fire.

Honda: Over 750,000 models have airbags that could injure kids, babies in car seats and anyone under 4’11”. Includes 2020 to 2022 models of the Honda Civic, Accord, CR-V, Fit, HR-V, Insight, Odyssey, Pilot, Passport, Ridgeline, as well as the Acura MDX, RDX and TLX.
GM: About 300,000 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles equipped have major tailgate issues. Read: Your stuff could fall out.
Volvo: Over 17,000 2024 XC40s models have a nonfunctioning turn signal. Yeah, that’s a crash risk.
NO returns on Cybertrucks
Amazon safety check: Go to your Amazon account and look under Your orders. You may see a link to a page called “Your Recalls and Product Safety Alerts.” Here, you’ll find details about recalls for products you’ve purchased and steps to get a refund or return those items. You’ll get an email, too.
♨️ Major recall: Some 3.2 million Bissell Steam Shot handheld steam cleaners shoot hot water or steam when you aren’t expecting it. Ouch. The steamers went viral on TikTok and were sold at Target, Walmart, Amazon and everywhere else. If you have one, hit this site.
3.3 million recalled Kia and Hyundai models
And they must stay parked until fixed. The companies each recalled over a million cars last year due to faulty parts that led to fires. They’ve finally started contacting owners to schedule repairs.
No more touchscreens in your car!
Distracted driving is one of the leading causes for accidents across the country, and now touch screens are to blame.
BMW is recalling 394,000-plus vehicles: The cars all have Takata-made airbag inflators that could explode in a crash. Affected models include 2006-2011 3 Series sedans, 2006-2012 3 Series sports wagons and 2009-2011 3 Series 335d sedans. Questions about a free replacement? Recall alert: Over 900,000 Hatch Rest first-generation baby sound machine adapters are being recalled, because the adapter housing can come off, exposing power prongs. If yours has model number CYAP05-050100U stamped on it, get a free replacement here.

Look for anything that says “Produced and distributed by Snapchill LLC.” You’ll find this under the nutrition facts.
Know someone who has a Ring doorbell?
The check might be in the mail. Yep, Ring is settling a class-action lawsuit.
Check this recall: If you have an old Frigidaire or Kenmore electric range, it may be a fire and burn hazard. Full list of impacted models here. You’ll need your serial number, so open the bottom drawer and check the inside of the frame. Call Electrolux at 888-845-8226. You might get a free repair or a $50 gift card.
🌾 Mow problems: Honda is recalling lawnmowers and pressure washers after nearly 5,000 reports of failures and 38 injuries. That means you if you have a model HRN216 or HRX217K6 lawnmower and/or a GCV170 or GCV200 G5B power washer. Stop using it immediately, then call Honda toll-free at 888‑888‑3139 for a free inspection and repair.
200 injuries so far: The FDA has recalled the Tandem Diabetes Care t:connect iOS app. It’s been crashing and relaunching, causing the compatible t:slim X2 insulin pump to shut down prematurely. If you’re affected, update your app to version 2.7.1 or later ASAP.
Palmer Candy Company is recalling its white-coated confectionery items due to a possible salmonella contamination. The FDA says these snacks, including pretzels, popcorn and chocolate, are sold in 17 states at stores like Walmart, Hy-Vee, Target and Dollar General. Got some? Return ‘em where you bought ’em for a full refund.
🥩 Check your fridge: The FDA says a bunch of ground beef might be contaminated with E. coli. Impacted products have a packaging date of “032824” and a use-by or freeze-by date of April 22, 2024. They’re also marked with “EST. 960A” inside the USDA inspection stamp. Toss ’em or return ’em.
Toyota recall: Over 55,000 Prius and Prius HEV models (2023 and 2024) have a scary flaw — water can short-circuit rear door latches, causing the doors to open while driving or in a crash. Have one? Turn on the “auto-lock feature” when shifting out of park. Toyota says a fix is coming soon, so contact your dealership.
🔥 Hot wheels: Millions of 2010 to 2017 Hyundai models, including the Santa Fe and Elantra, and Kia models like the Sportage and Forte are ticking time bombs due to a fire hazard recall. With not enough parts to go around, fixes are delayed until at least June. The current solution? Contact dealers only if you see warning lights or smell smoke. Gee, thanks.
Kia is recalling 430,000 Tellurides: The recall covers all 2020 through 2023 models and some 2024 vehicles. There’s a huge problem with the driveshaft that could let the SUVs spontaneously roll away. If that happens, you’ll have no-Kia.
Subaru recall: If you have a 2020 to 2022 Outback or Legacy, listen up! About 118,000 SUVs and sedans have a sensor glitch that could leave your airbags useless in a crash. Contact your dealer to get the faulty ODS sensors swapped ASAP.
🛑 Attention all Tesla owners: 2.2 million vehicles are being recalled. The font size for the brake, park and antilock brake system warning light is too small. Models in the hot seat: 2012-2023 Model S, 2016-2024 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, 2019-2024 Model Y and the 2024 Cybertruck.
