Major update! Get the new Amazon Kindle app now
If you’re like me, it took you forever to make the switch from good old-fashioned books to eBooks. There’s just something special about holding a book and turning its pages as the story’s suspense builds. But once I finally gave eBooks a chance, I realized it’s the way to go.
That’s because eBooks are so convenient and take up virtually no space in your home. Imagine having hundreds of books stored in a gadget that fits in your hand instead of filling up an entire bookshelf. Now, Amazon is making it even easier to join the eBook craze.
Amazon Kindle app gets a major update
Some people have been hesitant to move away from hard-copy books to eBooks because they don’t want to pay for an eReader. But did you know that you can turn your smartphone and tablet into an eReader with the Amazon Kindle app?
It’s true. There’s no need to pay for an eReader when you already have these gadgets at your disposal.
And there’s more good news. Amazon released a major update this week to its Kindle app that makes it much more user-friendly.
Amazon wrote in a statement, “Introducing the all-new Kindle app with a brand new look built around the books you love. Choose between the new light theme or existing dark theme. Quickly navigate with one-tap access to the things you use most, including your most recent books. Find your next book with recommendations just for you based on your reading habits at Home.”
On top of the Kindle app’s cosmetic changes comes some functionality upgrades. It’s now easier to do a search within the app, not only for books already in your library but to also search for new books that you don’t have.
The coolest change involves the book that you are currently reading. A permanent button now appears on the navigation bar, allowing you to one-tap your way back into whatever it is that you’re reading.
There’s also a new feature for Apple users. With Goodreads built into Kindle, you can now discover and discuss books with friends, authors and the community. This is currently only available on iOS but could make its way into Android in the future.
The Amazon Kindle app is available for free on both Apple and Android gadgets. Click here to download the app for iOS. Click here to download the app for Android.
It’s a great way to experience eBooks if you’ve never done so. Who knows? Maybe you’ll love eBooks so much you’ll decide to pick up an eReader and start your own digital library.
