How to set up Google’s SafeSearch to block certain content
When we were kids, we played outside with friends and the worst fears of our parents typically resulted in a broken bone. Our closest experience to technology was weekend cartoons. This was back when you had to run to the bathroom during a commercial break, or you missed the best part. Today our children have access to the internet early on.
Kids today are using programs like TikTok and YouTube. Parents look to their children to solve IT problems and teach them how to use social media properly. The problem is the internet is far from safe. Tap or click here for five ways to protect your child online.
A simple typo can result in lewd and terrifying images popping up online. Children can easily search for websites that could compromise their safety. So how do we keep our children safe? Google’s SafeSearch allows you to block certain content so you can feel at ease while your children browse the web.
How does Google’s SafeSearch work?
SafeSearch’s main goal is to filter out adult content. It aims to block violent or disturbing content, but it is not 100% effective. While the occasional inappropriate website could slip through, SafeSearch keeps out 99.9% of adult and pornographic-related content.

SafeSearch can be locked in Google’s browser on a desktop computer. On a mobile device, SafeSearch can be activated but the feature cannot be locked. However, Google recently enhanced SafeSearch, so a password has to be entered in order to be turned off.
