Store your passwords safely and easily
These days as more and more of our daily business is done online, most folks now have accounts on more sites than ever. Just think how many sites you log into to handle your affairs; the bank, utilities, email, every shopping website. Well, you get the idea. Most of us have accounts on many, many sites.
I really hope you already know that you need strong and unique passwords to keep hackers out of your online accounts. It doesn’t do you any good to have top-notch security that can be cracked with an easily-guessable password.
For the best security, however, every account needs a different password as well. That way, if hackers figure out one password they won’t automatically get access to all your other accounts.
Unfortunately, remembering every password for every account is hard to do. But before you grab a pencil and paper to post your passwords someplace obvious, I have a better solution.
A program that remembers your passwords for you
You should try a password manager program instead. It stores and organizes your passwords so you don’t have to remember them. It’s easy and secure to boot.
KeePass is a top-notch program that stores your passwords and organizes them by site or program to keep you secure and organized. There’s no reason to waste time when you’re keeping your information secure.
The first time you open KeePass, you need to create the file that will store your passwords. To put a password into KeePass, select a category (such as email or home banking), then click the Add Entry button.
You’ll be able to enter a title for the password and then the password. If it’s a new account, or you want to make the password more secure, KeePass can create a strong random password for you.
You can also store usernames, web addresses and notes about the account. Everything is kept in a file on your computer, which means you control who sees it. You can even copy and move it to other computers.
For security, KeePass encrypts the passwords so hackers and snoops can’t see them. To unlock the passwords, you have to enter a master password. Yes, that’s another password to make, but because you only have to remember that one, you can make it really strong.
Note: The only way to access your passwords is with your master password, so don’t forget it!
Once you unlock your passwords, using them is simple. You can just double-click on a username or password and then paste it into your account’s login screen. No mistyping here!

To download the program, navigate to the KeePass download page by using my blue link buttons below. There are two different versions of KeePass for you to choose from: KeePass 1.x and KeePass 2.x.
If you are a Mac (or Linux) user, you have to use KeePass 2.x and a free program called Mono. If you are a Windows user, it doesn’t really matter what version you use, but KeePass 2.x has more features.
There are also mobile apps for iOS and Android plus portable versions for both desktop versions of KeePass. You can even put the portable versions on a USB drive to take with you wherever you go, great for roaming users.
