5 streaming workouts that take less than 15 minutes
Gym memberships are great if you have the time, money and willpower to make it a regular part of your schedule. If you’re running short on any of those, that doesn’t mean you have to compromise on your health.
If you can carve out 15 minutes, then you can also carve off some calories and move in the right direction for getting into better shape. Check out these easy-to-access streaming workouts that take less than 15 minutes each:
1) Fitness Blender
Fitness Blender is a site that offers a collection of workout videos, but with a handy twist. You can completely customize the search for a full-length workout video based on keywords, workout time, calories you want to burn, difficulty rating, required equipment, and the part of the body you want to focus on.
Fitness Blender’s “Total Body Cardio Warm Up Workout to Burn Fat and Boost Energy” is a good place to start and get a feel for the kind of workouts available. The video skims in under 10 minutes, requires no special equipment, and can either be a quick workout all on its own or act as a warmup to a longer exercise session.
2) Blogilates
Pilates is a system of exercises that focus on strength, flexibility and your body’s core. Pilates workouts are hot in Hollywood, but people all over the world subscribe to the concept. You can get started with Pilates with a helping hand from Blogilates, a popular Pilates site that caters to everyone from beginners to advanced workout warriors.
Blogilates has a robust YouTube channel with a lot of videos aimed at particular body parts, like legs, calves or abs. For a quick full-body workout, check out the “Ultimate Fat Burn Workout | 5 Moves to Your Fittest Body” video, which Blogilates describes as “apartment-friendly.” It’s fast, enthusiastic, and can be done in your living room.
3) Fightmaster Yoga
The Fightmaster Yoga channel on YouTube may sound aggressive, but it’s actually named for yoga expert Lesley Fightmaster. Most of the videos are 20 minutes or longer, but there are some short routines you can slim in when you don’t have time for a longer session. The “15 minute Morning Yoga With Fightmaster Yoga” walks you through a wakeup routine starting with breathing exercises. The narration helps you navigate the gentle movements and stretches.
4)BeFiT
You easily get lost in the BeFiT YouTube channel, which is stuffed full of workouts covering everything from yoga poses for your back to belly-dancing cardio sessions. When you’re pressed for time, look for the “BeFiT GO” workouts, which last for about 10 minutes. The vigorous “Cardio Core Circuit Workout” will get your blood pumping and the only gear you need is a yoga mat. A countdown clock lets you know how much time is left. There’s also a built-in rest time so you can get hydrated and prepare to tackle the finale.
5) Alexa’s 7-Minute Workout
You don’t have to have a computer or smartphone handy to slim in a quick workout. If you have an Amazon Alexa device, you just need to enable the 7-Minute Workout skill and let the voice assistant guide you through a series of exercises that will be over before you know it.
The 7-Minute Workout is broken up into short chunks starting with jumping jacks and working through everything from crunches to push-ups to running in place. You can tackle each exercise at your own pace. The Alexa app will give you a description of each exercise in case you’re not quite sure what a “side plank” is.
The skill will track the number of workouts you complete and can resume a workout if you get interrupted in the middle. There’s also something very entertaining about hearing Alexa say, “If I had eyes, I would say you look jacked.”
