3 apps to help you sell your stuff

Are you in the process of moving? Or perhaps you have been meaning to clean out the garage or the attic. Selling your unwanted belongings can be quite an undertaking, especially if you have large items like bedroom furniture or a television. You could always organize a yard sale, but who has time for that?

You could of course use sites like eBay or Craigslist, however, both of those sites have serious drawbacks. Craigslist isn’t always the safest route and eBay has been known to sell users’ private data.

Thankfully, like most things in our modern lives, there are several apps that can help you get ready for that big move. Here are our three favorite apps for selling unwanted items:

1. LetGo

LetGo is an excellent way to sell items locally. After downloading the app and registering, you can post your unwanted items for sale quickly and free of cost. You can then share your LetGo listing, which can include up to five photos, via Facebook and other social networks.

LetGo also promises to not share your information or location with anyone. The app also allows you to chat with potential buyers within the app to negotiate a price and pick-up time.

2. OfferUp

OfferUp is another great app for buying and selling items. With OfferUp, all you have to do is download the app, create an account and then post a photo of the item you wish to sell. Once a buyer has reached out to you, you can check the buyer’s reputation on the app to confirm if they are a serious buyer. The OfferUp app also features an entire page dedicated to helping you stay safe when buying and selling things online.

3. Mercari

If you wish to get rid of your unwanted items but prefer to not meet up with buyers in person, be sure to check out Mercari. You simply post photos of what you’re selling and then ship it to the buyer. Mercari provides you with a free shipping label and only charges a 10% selling fee once the sale is complete.
