Ah, can you feel that in the air? It’s my favorite time of the year, fall. The scorching heat of summer is finally behind us and the beautiful colors of fall are everywhere.
Gorgeous scenery isn’t the only special part of this time of year, it also means that the holiday season is right around the corner. Thanksgiving will be here soon and we’ll be ringing in a new year before you know it.
Which also means shoppers will be out in full force over the next couple months, as people try to track down the perfect Christmas gifts so they can cross everyone off their list.
You’re probably well aware that Black Friday and Cyber Monday are two of the biggest shopping days of the year. But is November the best time of year to buy everything that you’re looking for?
Not necessarily. Retailers have special discounts on certain items at different times throughout the year. So this won’t be the time to find the best deals on everything.
That’s why you need to know what to buy and not to buy in November.
Items you should buy in November
When it comes to gift ‘wish lists,’ electronics are usually near the top. More specifically, televisions. This is especially true for sports fans, movie buffs and binge-watchers. Which is why many retailers put a handful of TVs in their Black Friday ads and use them as “doorbusters.”
Doorbusters, of course, are items put on sale at a deeply discounted price to draw people in. Unfortunately, there are only a few of these doorbusters available at each retail location, so chances of getting your hands on one are slim.
This year, most everyone will be looking to upgrade to a 4K television. You can easily spend thousands of dollars for the latest, greatest 4K TV.
But why spend that much money when you can save hundreds of dollars on a high-quality 4K TV set? You may have heard Kim talking about it on her show.
“TCL has a steep hill to climb to be No. 1,” Kim Komando said. “But it’s the fastest-growing television brand in the United States.
“They’re getting rave reviews. They’re now launching a TCL 75–inch, 4K Roku TV for just $2,000. That’s right, just $2,000. Roku is the operating system. You can subscribe to cable or satellite TV. They say it will be available in time for the holidays.”
There is also a 55–inch TCL 4K TV that’s highly rated by well-known magazines and electronics reviewers. One reviewer said, “It’s simply the greatest value we have ever seen in a TV.”
We’re talking about the TCL 55P607 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Roku Smart LED TV (2017 Model). You can find it on Amazon for around $850.

If you want to go bigger, Samsung has a 65–inch curved 4K Ultra HD Smart LED selling on Amazon for under $1,200.

November is a great month to make your major home appliance purchases. Appliances are on average 35 percent cheaper in November than other times of the year. But here’s the key, wait until Black Friday and Cyber Monday
Retailers like Home Depot, Sears and Target will have steep discounts on items like washer and dryer units, Dyson vacuums, dishwashers and refrigerators in their Black Friday ads. You will also be able to find great deals on appliances online for Cyber Monday.
Amazon has already discounted some items for an early sale. For example, this Kenmore Elite front load combination washer/dryer regularly priced at over $1,800 is on sale now for $1,200.
[amazon_link asins=’B074BZVB2Q’ template=’KomandoButton’ store=’komandocom-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’000426ca-b8db-11e7-8cdb-9f7c367b2bbd’]
Traditionally, Black Friday is the best time of year to pick up a budget laptop. The best values will be found on 15-inch laptops that have current generation processors. You should be able to find these priced around $300.
There are also bargain bin laptop options. These also have a 15-inch display but come with less memory and weaker processors. Last year, retailers used these laptops as doorbusters and priced them around $100. That’s a super deal if you are lucky enough to get a hold of one, so make sure to check the Black Friday ads for these.
If you want one of the faster laptops, Amazon has an HP 15.6-inch HD touchscreen laptop with Intel Quad Core Pentium 2.16 GHz processor, 4GB DDR3L memory and 500GB HDD hard drive. It’s priced under $330.

Don’t forget about the Komando 2-in-1 PC Entertainment and Productivity System. It’s yours for only $299.95! Kim custom-designed this easy to use and versatile Windows 10 PC to have all the features you need without the headache of learning something new.
This convertible Windows 10 PC is portable enough for you to play your favorite games on the go and powerful enough to stream your favorite movies and shows with its nice, big color display. And, because it is both a laptop and a tablet, you can use it any way you want to!
Retailers normally discount desktop computers during Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales as well. Watch for doorbuster sales for the best value.
Amazon has some desktops already on sale leading up to Cyber Monday. For example, this Lenovo Ideacentre AIO all-in-one desktop has a 23-inch display, 8GB RAM and 1TB HDD hard drive. It’s regularly priced at $630 but is on sale now for $576.

Make sure to check out Black Friday ads at retailers like Best Buy, Walmart and Target for more options.
Cyber Monday is the best day to find deals on clothes. You can expect to see prices drop up to 50 percent on clothing, shoes and even beauty items. If you’re shopping online, make sure you look around for digital coupons. These will give you even more savings.
Now that you know what items are discounted during November, let’s look at things that you should not purchase during the month.
Most everyone knows a special child that they want to shower with the latest and greatest toys for Christmas. That’s why retailers typically don’t have great sales on toys in November. It’s all about the high demand and companies know parents and grandparents will pay full price to make the little ones happy.
You’re better off waiting until December to find those toys you’re looking for. Some retailers will put on last-minute sales to have a strong finish to the Christmas shopping season.
Sofas and loveseats don’t come to mind when I think of Christmas gifts. The latest gadgets and toys are what most shoppers are looking for on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
For this reason, retailers don’t normally have big furniture sales during the holiday season. The best time of year to find deals on home furnishings is in the summer. You will most likely be able to find discounts of up to 50 percent on furniture in July and August.
Being with friends and family is probably the best part of the holidays. Having a huge family dinner and taking in the ballgame with those closest to you make memories to cherish forever. With that in mind, finding deals on air travel this time of year can be a struggle.
If you want to spend the holidays with family your best bet is to plan ahead. Airports are super crowded over the holidays and airlines charge a premium on most flights.
To find the best deals on travel during the holidays you should keep your eye on sites that offer alerts if prices go down. That way you can find the best deal without breaking your budget. Click here to learn how to have Google Flights tell you when prices drop.
Even though you might find decent deals on bedding this month, they won’t be as good as you will find in January. Blankets, bed sheets, duvets and pillows are usually marked down between 20 and 40 percent during November sales events. However, most retailers have January white sales on bedding and bath items and will mark them down anywhere from 50 to 70 percent.
Speaking of Black Friday, here are some deals we know about already
It’s that time of year and one of my favorite games is to prognosticate Black Friday deals. Just remember: “Black Friday” is shorthand for Cyber Monday because let’s face it, there are so many deals to be had even though the experience may be different. The future is always hazy, but I’ve been listening to leaks and rumors for the past few months, and know about some deals I’d like to share with you.
